Not really a great deal. Between the overheating, weak wireless connectivity, and poor battery life I don't think it's worth this price. Google Tensor and Samsung Modem seems to work terribly together. You might as well get the 6a and save money for the same experience.
I have a regular pixel 6. The fingerprint reader sucks. And the connectivity issues are definitely there. But that doesn't happen enough for me to get two aggravated. But the fingerprint reader is just terrible.
Of course I did, all I am saying is that this price drop might cannibalize 6a sales & make people who already got 6a want t return them. Most of them are likely still within the return window.
I'd imagine most who got 6a got it for 150 after the trade-in... you'd be crazy to pay a full price on a mid tier phone lok

I've heard there's life outside SD Folks who're getting $300 trade-in credits for $50 devices are certainly doing fine, but I saw many folks over on reddit were buying it for $399-$449 outright.
For anyone considering this phone, this is the response I got last month when I contacted support about the constant connection issues. They haven't fixed anything yet and they are aware that there is still an issue.
"Thanks for contacting Google Support.
I understand your concern and would like to inform you that we are aware of the issue and the specialist team is working on it. I can offer the replacement for the device however this is a software issue and there is a high chance that you will experience the same issue on the replacement phone too.
The specialist team is trying their best to get this issue resolved and you may receive the improved feature in the future updates."
Got a 6a for $175 out the door for a near worthless iPhone 7. After updating to Android 13, the phone is a little screamer with great pictures and absolute first rate word transcribing. Phone deal of the year as far as I'm concerned. Not seeing many scenarios where the $500 premium for the big brother is worth it. YMMV.

The time machine required to get that price on the 6a kills the deal tho

I really don't understand where the hate comes from. I've had my 6 Pro since day one and love it. Camera is great, fingerprint reader is almost instant. Admittedly it was slower before the update, but never unreliable. Device is super snappy, and battery life is good (not amazing, but definitely not bad).
The ONLY thing I strongly dislike is the curved screen edges. They're not always as responsive as they should be.
You don't understand where the hate comes from because you were lucky to have received a good phone. Fact is, a lot of reputable tech reviewers (you can search Google or YouTube) don't recommend the 6 Pro for numerous reasons. Basically, it's super buggy. Fact is, a lot of regular users also complain about the 6 Pro bugginess on various social platforms, including SD. This clearly indicates there's a big problem with the 6 Pro. Now, that doesn't mean every 6 Pro produced is bad and you were lucky to have received a good one. But clearly the 6 Pro quality has been very inconsistent to have caused all this "hate." On the other hand, the regular Pixel 6 has received thumbs up from most reviewers and users.
My favorite feature is how the pro rattles when you shake it. Totally crap phone that's given me tons of issues, had to have Google replace the phone but most the issues remain poor wifi, unreliable wifi less charging, finger print reader fail, the list goes on and on, shame on you Google.
nobody should pay this much for such a bad phone
not to mention pixel 7 getting released in about 3 weeks
Pixel 7 isn't getting announced in 3 weeks. Launch event is early October, rumor is the 6th(7 weeks) and won't ship until end of October like always. I do agree that it isn't worth $650+tax though at this point.
Just cracked mine too. Haven't broken a phone in 10 years. These curved screen phones aren't worth it; No side protection
Same, never broke a screen before. Cracked right on the curve lower right hand side with dbrand grip case. Crap luck. $279 to replace it if I go that route or try the trade-in with the P7. I wish they made the SPECK Presidio Grip for the P6P but apparently skipped the P6 altogether, that thing was awesome for drops in the past.

I envision the various cell phone execs at a summit somewhere. Ok first we eliminate the micro SD slot. Then we charge $100 for an extra 128G of flash that would have only cost them $5 otherwise. Hey it worked for the headphone jack. Then they all go around patting each other on the back.

I have one and this is the first phone that I've wanted to throw out a window.
