Well, it'd be horribly burnt in, so it would actually be free by 2028.
Why? I've had both of my OLED since 2014 and 2016 without any signs of burn in and I play Xbox / PS on the 2016 C6 since it came out of the box. I don't get why people post this nonsense.

Burn in is not really a thing unless you use it as a computer monitor. I'm more worried about the quality of this and wouldn't buy it without a protection plan. And I hate protection plans.

What if you have brightness on Low, use dark mode, and enable pixel shifting?

Sorry for non deal related rant.... But as consumers...I can't help but feel that we've enabled manufactures to not give us a deal that includes durability as a criteria.

When I read comments in these threads of a TV maybe lasting 5 years or needing extended warranty....It's odd to me that as consumers.... durability has slipped as a priority to so many people and generations that we enable manufactures to progress towards the "you will own nothing and be happy", planned obsolescence and ever increasing inflation culture.

I remember a time where all tube TVs lasted 10 years easy, that was the expectation. And... Only remotes would fail.

Plasmas first introduced shorter lifespan because of burn in and power requirements where capacitors that were mounted improperly or cheap

Phones, computers, tvs and even cars are going towards this route of shortened lifespan and we only have ourselves to blame as we have emphasized consumerism and need to have "better technology" at higher frequency.
Good point, for TV it's debatable but it's a serious issue with refrigerators randomly dying in 5 years and spoiling hundreds/thousands worth of food.

Your Chrome tabs and top bar and scrollbars will still burn in, and that's assuming you auto hide the task bar already. Pixel shifting just makes the burn in area larger btw.

I don't believe you can. It's basically as if you were picking up from a warehouse, just that warehouse is a Best Buy.

(someone correct me if I'm wrong)
This sounds right to me as well.

Jokes on me, I use Edge. I don't have to worry about chrome tabs. The real question about long term uneven pixel degradation is how well the algorithms are able to adjust at the pixel level. If it's done as Samsung and Sony have alluded, we won't see nearly the same effect as traditional and W-OLED since the voltage being sent through the qd layer will be adjusted to match the brightness of the pixel even as it degrades.

The protection plans are scams. Most of them say in the terms of service (like the ones from buydig) that they don't have to fix or repair the device they can simply refund you the cost of the plan. So here you thought you were covered for a new $1500 tv and they'll just return the $150 value of the warranty.

It all depends on who the plan is with. I trust Costco and Sam's and haven't had problems on getting them to honor. Not a fan of them because most products don't need it but new tv tech can be problematic.

As long as you have .edu email address, you should be good.
I did signup with .edu and I keep seeing $1,679 in the cart. I don't understand why this thread claims it is 1,575. Is it cookie specific?

Timing.....was 1650 for long time. Then dropped to 1575 about a week before Labor day. Simply went back up after the Labor day sale. I m thinking about the next one to two weeks, if most delivered tv have issues due to built quality, it may fall more by black Friday.

$3000 tv, reduced to $2500, and now $2099.

$1679 is the lowest price still out of anywhere retail wise outside of education/employment pricing.

$100 difference from $1575 to $1679 should *Not be your deciding factor, if so this tv is Not for you. This is a premium latest technology television intended for those who are looking to purchase the best of the best.
