This is how you end up with micro-fractures in the material and flow issues.

You want a smooth, 90° cut so it goes into the fitting as far as it can on all sides.

A basic tool that you can use for this and other thin metal are the Klein Tools 1104. If you're cutting a lot of MC, then you may want to consider a rotary cutter Klein Tools 53725. Whichever you get, don't forget to use a bushing!

If you don't have to cut a lot of MC cable, just bend it (which creates a kink) then use a pair of side cutters or linesmans to cut it.

A decent pruner with produce a crisp, clean cut without creating "micro-fractures".
