Like most Clif bars, loaded with sugar. 17 grams. Glorified candy bar.
Apparently everyone here is a professional "boiled chicken and rice" bodybuilder getting ready to hit the stage. $1 for a grab and go bar with 20 grams of protein that doesn't taste terrible is a deal.
People are missing that the name is "BUILDERS".

I like how you spinned that, but you still fell short. These are NOT much healthier than a Snickers. Maybe one less bite healthier, but not much healthier in the slightest.
I would disagree, the cliff bar is healthier. A typical snickers bar has 4 grams of protein, 1 gram of fiber, and 27 grams of sugar. This Cliff bar has 17 grams of sugar, but 20 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber with only 30 more calories. Are there options out there that have been macro distribution? Of course. Is this more nutritious than a Snickers bar? Absolutely because most people don't get enough protein.

All these comments are actually true. The bars have too much sugar, they're great for middle or after long workout (hours not minutes), they don't melt as easily and make same mess some other bars do but they can, artificial sugars are different and people react differently to them, and lastly if I could only eat them after a workout I'd be fine but I reach for them like a snack whenever they're available- that's not healthy.

Good price, good enough for what it is, don't eat as snack like I do. Thanks OP.
Great comment here. Protein bars are never perfect. It's basically a game of pick 2.5 of these: great taste, natural sugar, high protein content, low price.

If you find one that fits the 3 categories you really value, go for it, but in my experience I've never found more than 2 1/2 of these in a bar. But when they're a dollar, it's hard to complain.

The old South Beach Diet peanut butter bars were so money. Then they changed the recipe to dog food and ruined it for me. I'm sure they weren't body builder status, but served as my breakfast for a few years.

Thanks, it's a good deal for the product. The bars taste pretty good and have decent protein content. If your worried about the sugar content and you're not working out, perhaps consider them as a meal replacement. They aren't snacks for sure.

At least it's better than trusting the "experts" on media. They'll run a story about how a dog got monkeypox from his two gay owners and not even ask the obvious question. Here on Slickdeals we may be stupid but the goal is to get to the truth.

Our brains have been trained to become addicted to sweeteners in all forms. Just as concerning is that the source of protein is soy protein isolate. It's bad stuff.

https://www.wellandgood.com/shoul...n-isolate/

You can do your own research, but the link above is a super short summary. I love mint and chocolate, but it's difficult to find protein bars that taste good and don't contain trash ingredients. But hey, at least it doesn't contain coconut oil, which I'm really tired of seeing portrayed as a superfood when it definitely isn't.

Sweet baby Jesus! 280 calories with only 20 grams of protein. Not quite a Snickers bar, but close enough. I bet they're delicious, though.
Snickers 4.3 g protein vs. this 20 g....so ??

I find these things fantastic on a fall hike or run. Delicious. Or as a meal replacement.

Can you name a single tasty bar that does not have sugar etc?

As for soy protein isolate, from the article:
1: Soy isolate protein is missing a lot of nutrients
2: Soy isolate protein contains unhealthy additives
3: Soy isolate protein is probably genetically modified
4: It may upset your stomach

That is VERY weak reasoning. Particularly because the only possible thing that is a concern is #2, the information of which is sourced from weird websites like the "cornucoppia Institute", and even that does not mention SPI, it only mentions soy, and some soy at that.

I really want to order these but the transportation in this Texas heat will obliterate the bars so I'll pass this time around. Thanks tho
