At least here I've got a real printed $10 gift card, not some metaphoric credit loaded onto the membership card which half of the times you have to fight for because it's not there. And only $15 upfront. Good enough for me

As soon as I printed it on a piece of paper with barcode - it's a real gift card for me. What I meant by that is that a few last times these gift cards were credits loaded onto the account, you never see them, never can confirm if it's there and half of the times it's not.

I forget the specific category I picked but I put in a request about redeeming the code and got an auto-reply saying to try basic steps and then wait for support to respond if it doesn't work. It took a few days but they came through with a working gift card code for me. They also kept me updated on the status the whole time I was waiting and even gave me a promo credit for a future order. Surprisingly good customer support.

You will get an online account right away, with membership number. You only have to go to the store to get an actual card, but not for online purchases.

WARNING: I got this deal and opened my membership a couple months ago (for the shed deal).

I just cancelled my membership earlier today because:

1. The $45 is not off the 1st purchase it's a credit that appears on your account 45-60 days AFTER your purchase.

2. If you use the credit and then return items, you lose the credit completely. This just happened to me today and after 10 minutes of discussing with the representative, I just cancelled my membership

May be this offer is different. As per the terms - ""Join as a new Sam's Club Member and receive an Instant Savings offer for $45 off $45 or more of qualifying purchases on one transaction within first 60 days of membership". Did you show the offer details and they still not honored ?
