Still thinking that these might fall another little bit on price because retailers are going to have to firesale everything to make way for newer generation systems - which will drive down the price of everything else further down the supply chain. Just on man's opinion.

The HP is going to be pretty unsupportable outside of your HP/Costco warranty (the Costco warranty might be pretty good though). I'd expect the motherboard and maybe the power supply to be proprietary which will limit your ability to upgrade this system. The I7 12700F is a good CPU but I wouldn't be surprised if the cooling solution in this system didn't cause some thermal throttling. That's only an assumption though and if you compare the CPUs at optimal performance, the HP's Intel would outperform this particular AMD CPU overall.
I believe the Asus uses standard parts so you can more easily upgrade and replace parts yourself. The 1660 TI GPU in the ASUS is also much better than the RX 550. While the AMD 3600X CPU isn't as good as the HP's Intel i7 12700F, it'll probably be a better system overall due to better build quality. Plus you can probably upgrade to the 5000 series AMD without upgrading the motherboard. Though if you did need / want to upgrade the motherboard, that will be an option for this Asus.
Based on teardowns I've seen, I would never recommend a system like the HP one here. Maybe the HP Omen would be ok but I would still avoid those too... unless the only other choice was an Alienware desktop.

and one thing I've learned in all my internet research when building a PC... high temp's are BAD, you can fry the parts inside a PC really quickly ... I could be wrong but I'm guessing it comes with a really sucky CPU cooler too which in theory you could upgrade and replace but it gets tricky and you have to be very careful
(hint, warm that sucker up by running the PC for say an hour and use dental floss to "cut" between the fan and the thermal paste, ideally with a buddy to hang onto the fan so it doesn't go sliding all over the place inside the PC making a mess with the thermal paste - I followed the youtube tutorials that said you can just twist the cpu fan off and utterly destroyed my CPU , mind you it was my first time ever trying to do something like that so quite possibly user error
As someone who has built and then upgraded later on desktop PC's for myself and family members I find myself cringing when I look at this awful case and find myself wondering if it would be possible to just transplant the entire thing into a better case with say mounts for preferably two fans in the front of the case as well as a mount for a fan in the back of the case. because you're going to run out of hard drive space VERY quickly ... if it was me I'd snag at least a 1 TB ssd sata drive you can install both additional programs (games alone take up a lot of space) and documents on and buy another 8 GB stick of ram to help out with gaming but that also brings up the price still further.
...I dunno, tempting price but not knowing for sure if you can upgrade to Win 11 worries me and the lack of ventilation worries me a lot too. I find myself wondering if it's better to save your money and just build your own PC ... not as scary as it sounds there are a ton of youtube videos that will walk you through it

you could buy say Win 10 home for $50 from what is basically an authorized reseller (product key will work basically) then just take advantage of MS's free upgrade offer to Win 11... just make sure you buy a motherboard and processor that supports Win 11.
I posted when it was $529.....also, it isn't cheaper, it is the same price both places.
