I was looking at it this morning! The 7040 is on Amazon with 16Gb for $20 more and DDR4.

Just FYI, the RAM in this is NOT DDR4. It is DDR3. I purchased this last month and ultimately returned it. The optiplex 5040 did not have a DDR4 option.

The 7040 mentioned by the above poster is DDR4, with an addition 8gb of ram for just $20 more. It's a much better deal.

Nice desktop for the money. Same seller has a 7040 similarly outfitted, but with 16GB RAM and wifi, for $140. Not officially Windows 11 compliant, but some solid and pretty fast machines for most tasks. I have a 3040 SFF that I use every day and I love it.

Edit: Looks like y'all found that 7040 and commented on it while I was typing the above message. Sorry I posted a duplicate message about it.

How does compare to the infamous $88, $99 Acer Refurbished J4125 deal that is and has been popular here..is this Dell much Better? Thanks..

If you live by a university check their surplus store, my local university sells these once the warranty is up and similar hp specced models with out the hard drive for $80. $100 will get you an 8th gen pc at surplus.

Dang, I really liked the look of this, but it appears that it is only about 20% faster than my 2 current old I5-3470 based systems. I'm looking for at least a 30% speed increase under $180 each. I do like how many usb ports this has, though.

If I were in the market with a $180 budget, I'd be seriously considering the Acer i3-10105 desktop deal for another $22 at $202. Specs are years ahead of 6th gen (2021 versus 2015), at a compelling price point. I bought one a few weeks ago and it's a lot of bang for the buck, with free upgrade to Windows 11 when you're ready.
