How do people like these? I never got a pool quote but I heard "be ready to spend 50k".
Weighing on spending 50k (which will be a lot further out) or constantly spending 1k maybe every 1-3 years?
You could put 10k in fairly conservative low yielding investment which would likely fund your 1k/3yrs pool purchase. Or 25k and get a new one every yr, sell the old one end of each season for half price so you don't have to store it (if you're in a 4 seasons area)
regarding the pump being underpowered, they usually are for these above ground sets. on my 12ft x 39" round one I use a pump from a 15ft x 4ft pool. for pools larger than mine I've seen alot of people buy used pumps/sand filters that were meant for permanent pools and use those instead.

I'm using a used Hayward Perflex on my 12" pool. My pool sits under an oak tree and gets absolutely obliterated with pollen every time it rains. Perflex makes it crystal clear in about 30-60 minutes and is a lot smaller / easier to maintain than comparable sand filters. A complete overkill, but such a relief after using the pump that came with the pool.
Both sand and DE filters use the same pump. I found it's hard to find a cheap used Perflex filter, especially during the season - makes more sense to buy new. Pumps are a lot easier to find though. Was looking for strainer cap for my pump, but picked up a whole unit for about the same price as a new cap.
