12.5" HD (1366 x 768) is a little weak unfortunately.

If anyone is unaware, 8th gen is the oldest gen Intel chip that can upgrade to Windows 11. 7 series and earlier will ryde or die with Windows 10/7/XP/ME/WindowsNT/Win 98/95.

Technically the statement is correct. Average non tech person is not going to be able to follow your direction of registry hacks. I would of rephrased your post. 7x80 can't not be upgraded to windows 11 unless you hack the registry. 7x90 can be upgraded by the common person.

Yep, as well as just 8/256GB... the deal from the other day for the 7390s was much better - some of the ones available had a 1080p screen and 16/512GB for $250 - I should've pulled the trigger then for a new laptop for my mom. Got her a Latitude E7240 refurb for $200 back in 2016 and it's still going!

If this is anything like the latitude 7270 then the keyboard is horrible. But hopefully they upgraded. Anyone ever used both?

Wouldn't a new age 11th Gen i3 be more powerful, faster and more efficient than an 8th Gen i7?
If the answer is Yes, then I'd rather buy one of the i3s that go on sale around the $250 mark instead of this refurb i7. Any tech gurus who can throw some light on this?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can just download the install tool, setup a USB drive, and reinstall Windows 11.

I just picked up a used Latitude 7390 8th gen i5, 16gb ram and 1080 matte touchscreen for 175ish shipped on eBay. Dropped in a 256gb SSD I got for ~25 and it's a better deal.

1. It's a $200 laptop
2. Latitude keyboards are typically pretty good over most other manufacturers' offerings.

11th gen i3 probably faster than 8th gen i7 given the same number of cores/threads and mated with same amount of RAM. at this bottom tier, amount of RAM (and the ability to add more) determines the diff.

Incorrect. I have several older gen laptops and desktops running Windows 11.

Just received my 7390 2in1 (ordered 3 days ago). Looks good to me. The bottom has some normal worn, but it is expected. Other than that, I cant find any other worn.
I can't find out how many recharge cycle on the battery, but it shows healthy from windows battery report.
I also used crystaldiskinfo to check the SSD. It is a Toshiba kxg50znv512g. it is showing 866 power counts and 6574 power
on hours. Total write is 16933GB.
Well, I would say it perfectly meets my expectation.
