$70 is with ads just to note.
Worth it with Amex $25 offer?
I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

Don't risk it for a measly 2 days. Better to use it by 9/13 since it usually takes two days to settle on the card by 9/15.

If I cancel and let my plan expire, then sign up again with the same email/account info - will it restore "My List' and viewing history?

This would be great to know. Otherwise, I may as well create a brand new account.

My current subscription expires Sept 26 (but my AMEX promo expires Sept 16). I tried cancelling my subscription (to qualify for the $40 off) but it still shows full price. There's an option to "delete my account" but it says that it takes 4-5 weeks to take effect
Any ideas (other than using a new email - I prefer receiving the email reminders on my main email)?

Yes. Add a dot anywhere in your gmail address to make it a new one or append a "+HBO" to your gmail.

This will make it appear as a new email to HBO but it routes to your existing gmail inbox. Peace

Question about watching HBO originals under the HBO hub, is it true they are ad free regardless of the plan. Someone mentioned on YouTube that popular shows like GOT are ad free even if you have the ad plan.

That's a definite plus on my decision.

Big fan of GOT and would love to watch it for third time.. And also continue the HOTD series in 4K.. Subscribed it despite all the shows getting cancelled. Hopefully some DC movies make up for it in the upcoming year..
I read when viewing hbo originals through the hub they are ad free, like GOT. Maybe someone can confirm.

I would guess that eventually, all the platforms will move to a model like Disney where they're releasing one episode per week of their popular shows.
Which is irrelevant if you're churning. I target my subscription start dates for the end of a series rather than the beginning.

You're smart and have enough discipline that you can wait a little while after something comes out before buying it. You probably save a lot of money that way. A lot of people (maybe even most people) feel the need to see movies the week they come out or buy video games while they're still $60 instead of $10.

Disney gets those people by constantly having a new shiny thing available each week. Netflix doesn't understand this and they give people all of the new shiny things at once and allows them to unsubscribe for 3 months until the next new shiny thing comes along.
