I picked up the Hang-5 Scooter about 2 weeks ago. Been riding it pretty much every day round trip (6 miles). At about 6 miles, it shows up as a bit under half battery. So I imagine that this can get 10 miles @15MPH max speed and somewhere closer to 15 miles at 10MPH.

This is my first scooter, so not much in terms of comparisons to other brands and models. Looks very similar to the Xiaomi M365, Hiboy S2, and the Swag Tron SG5 (most similar, especially with the hinge mechanism). Everything assembled quickly and worked out of the box. It even came with a hand pump, which I promptly threw into the trash. Pumped the tires to 45 using my digital battery pump. Riding it, the throttle is not that great. It feels like it is either on or off, which takes a bit of time getting used to.

I am 210, and it picks up easily to the max speed of 15MPH on flat roads. It can maintain the max speed up some gradients, and will dip to around 10-12MPH on steeper ones. My friend who owns the M365 says that it feels about the same in power. So I imagine that it is somewhere between 200-300W, with 500w as peak as some users have mentioned.

Stem feels pretty sturdy, no wobble at all. It came with some hex wrenches that I used to tighten whatever I can find. There is no suspension, so you rely solely on the air tires for road dampening. Brake lever is made of alloy and feels decent to grab. It does feel jerky when braking (likely the motor hitting regen of some sort). There is no App, so not way to unlock speed (if that was even possible to begin with). Motor is pretty quiet too overall.

TLDR: For 240, It is a steal. How it is long term is always a gamble, but from initial impressions, it feels solid and decently powerful. It is not as smooth in operation (i.e. braking, throttle) as other well known brands. BUT you'll likely be spending over 700 for anything remotely better (like a Segway Ninebot Max, VSETT 8, Niu KQI3, etc.) which, if you are using it as a sole commuter, would probably be a wiser investment for reliability sake.

Thanks this convinced me to get one. Instead of paying for parking, I prefer to park farther away. I was thinking about buying a cheap bike and a bike rack but that seemed like a big hassle for a 1-2 mile walk. This seems perfect since you can fold it and stow it away easier.

I'm concerned about the long term durability of the thing but I couldn't justify spending $300+ on a escooter

Some of us think it's actually the usual 200w/250w motor with a max power of 400w.

The Hang 5 manual states - Max Motor Power: 400w Front Motor

FedEx just delivered my Hang 5 scooter and I unboxed it. Seeing splash marks behind the front wheel (on the case under the board that houses the battery) so it's likely a return. I'm pretty sure they don't test ride each of them through puddles as part of the QC process.

Anyone else seeing signs of previous use on theirs?

Wow, it has rear shocks. That isn't mentioned anywhere on the website. You would think that would be a selling point. On page 12 of the user manual says that the battery is built in and can't be removed. Not sure if you are attempting to return it but I'd be curious whats under the hood, like if the battery uses xt30 or xt60 on the discharge cable and if there is any way to connect to the controller, bluetooth or hard wired.

Yes, I was also surprised to find two rear shocks. Definitely a plus. I took it for a quick spin after charging it and found that it doesn't make it up any of the hilly streets in my neighborhood so I already sent JoyRideBike an email requesting a return. It even struggles on slight inclines. It runs alright when it's flat or on the slightest of inclines. For reference, I'm 175 lbs so nowhere near the rated limit. It's a shame, I was really excited and ready to like this e-scooter.

This is definitely a concern. Does anybody else have the similar issue?

So I got the 2x Juice e-scooters shipment about an hour ago. Packaging says fragile yet they arrived upside down. Frown

I haven't fully checked them yet but in general they are brand new units and initially look good. They are charging currently.

Oh and I got charged with sales tax FYI.
Possible mini review of this Juice E-Scooter? what about equipped drum brake performance, try to compare it with disk brake goes with Hang 5. Is battery pack reachable and can be replaced ? What is carrying weight(Amazon product page showing 40lbs).

Mines has no issues on inclines or anything that I wouldn't have issue with biking up.

I don't think any electric scooter under $500 would be able to crawl up a hill. That would probably be best for ones with dual motors or a powerful single motor.

I've been busy so I haven't really used the scooter. I have only unboxed, inspected, charged, and then took them both for a quick spin around the block just to make sure they weren't DOA.
Here's another owner's comment from the Juice thread:

I don't have a Hang 5 to compare.

Is battery pack reachable and can be replaced ?
Yes, but not easily. These are not the "swappable" models.

What is carrying weight(Amazon product page showing 40lbs).
Manual states 40.3 pounds as well. It feels about right.
