This amp seems a little dated compared to a more recent amp like the JDS Atom Amp+ which has more power and is virtually noise and distortion free. The reviewer gave the Spark a generally positive recommendation but gave the newer Atom Amp+ a glowing one and JDS is supposed to have amazing customer support. I would spend the extra $15 on the Amp+ or something like the Schiit Magni Heresy instead.

Some headphones need more power than your PC's headphone jack can deliver so this is where these come in

Love the looks, design and sound of this headphone amp. Totally worth the price. The dial feels great at it has a 1/4" input. I highly recommend.

Always great to see HiFi deals. Thanks OP.

If I hadn't picked up the Drop AAA One, I'd probably be all over this. I think I got the better amp for my needs, though.

I have the Spark. It's a great budget amp. Back when I was doing research, the Magni, JDS Atom, and Spark were the top three bang for your buck amps on the market. That was a few years ago and I'm sure there are other options out there now, but I'm pretty happy with mine.

I have one. These drive HD6XX very well. Definitely a noticeable difference in sound vs out of laptop headphone jack. It was one of the top amp at $100. TBH just pick one of the recommended ones based on "features" rather than charts. For my, I picked this one up due to build quality and look.

The only con that I can think of is that it takes a few seconds to boot up. In a world where everything is near instantaneous those few seconds are definitely noticeable.

To provide your headphones some extra juice.
Where this comes in handy is that some headphones have a higher resistance "like the voltage, resistance, current" stuff. A higher resistance means it's less likely to pick up low signal noise like hisses or buzzes from your electric system. But this also lowers the volume at a given power rating from the audio source, so what these amps do is gives them the juice to overcome the resistance and lets the cans shine.

If you were to plug high impedance phones into an average headphone jack it'll be quiet and completely underwhelming because that signal just can't overcome the resistance.

I get some I guess I would call it static like sounds every once in a while. For you smart people, is it a power issue maybe with my setup? I have a Fosi Audio Q4 and a Philips X2HR Fidelio Headphone (so so SO comfortable)

Links just for reference (I don't expect anyone willing to throw in their 2 cents to have the specs memorized of my equipment)

i use the Fidelio with the SoundblasterX G6, and it really does sound great. I have a high end mobo with dedicated audio chip with dac/amp and the G6 on 50% volume is louder than the mobo was at 100%. I was hesitant about the soundblaster when i bought it but i love everything about it. I wouldnt recommend for music, but i use them for gaming on my pc and its quite good setup between the 2. Positional audio is great, much better than my Logitech G Pro X headphones I have. It also sounds good with music but im no audiophile. It also has 2 settings one for 1-300ohm and one for 301-600ohm.

I've been running this amp to power my X2s since the beginning of this year. It does great and gets my headphones plenty loud.
