ITA. I just switched to Sonicare a couple years ago after using Oral B for many years. It's a better toothbrush and cleans with precision. Oral B cleans haphazardly. I have this exact Sonicare and I love it. Dentists and orthodontists agree on Sonicare being better. That auto shutoff is to preserve the battery din e it is designed to be used 30 secs in each quadrant hence the subtle change in sound to denote the time to switch quadrants.
