Probably a hair ball that's wrapped around the pipe works. Use those $4 pipe snakes with the spikes on them. I use one about 3-4 times before replacing.

I have 4 women in my house plus a female Golden Retriever. Hair everywhere except my head.

Walmart said it had one available so I checked out successfully, but just now got an email saying they had to sub the item because they were out. They swapped it with a STEALTH 3 gallon 3 HP vac. Slightly lower reviews but seems to be a good sub!

Same here. This is the one they substituted (its original price is $5 higher than the first one). It also has an extra filter, a longer hose, more horsepower and more attachments.
