S7: last year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR but no camera to navigate
S7+: S7 with additional auto empty base S7 MaxV: this year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR and camera to navigate. More powerful than S7 S7 MaxV Plus: S7 MaxV with auto empty base S7 MaxV Ultra: S7 MaxV with auto empty dirt and water base that can also clean the mop and refill the vacuum's water tank |
You can buy the canister on Amazon to make it bagless but it costs $65. Depending on your needs it may not be worth it. In my case I can buy many years worth of bags at that price point.
Considering third party bags are around $20 for 12 and each bag lasts 6 weeks, more for me, I can buy 4+ years worth of bags instead of the canister. |

I bought the S5 like 2.5 years ago, and I changed the motor once in about 1.5 years in with the help of Roborock customer service. Now that using it for 2.5 years, the vacuum begins to complain about this and that, and it sounded louder than when i first bought.
I am a little on the fence on the durability of this machine. If i pay this much, i expect it to last more than 5 years or longer.

I've seen comments state that the water smells/stinks and there could be mold since there's water involved.
Couple of tips;
* use swiffer wetjet solution in the tank. I refill every 2-3 days On a daily clean if around 900 sq ft. At that point clean the mop and this also prewets it. This whole process takes two minutes. It's super easy.
* make sure to go in app and adjust mop intensity. I have it from second in the highest
* this model won't detect cords and such so have to move them.
* there's an attachment you can buy to make the base bagless but it's not worth it. You'd have to buy many years worth of bags to even break even..
In my opinion the model I have works perfectly fine. I don't leave big messes in the house. I get various small spills in the floor, mainly from juices, and the mop picks them right up.
I don't think the water base on the s7 max is worth that extra cost. Having to refill the vacuum with water is a nice reminder to clean the mop. It's also not leaving dirty water sitting around and it's just so easy to add more water on the vacuum itself.

Big difference otherwise is the mop.. S7 has a better vibrating mop and lifts on carpet to avoid mopping and wetting the carpet. Although it may still get carpet very very slightly wet according to some peoples experience. It won't mop it.
Basically, if you're mainly carpet then q7 is the way to go, if you're a mix or more hardwood, the s7 is probably better as you won't have to worry about removing or turning off the mop for carpet.
