Not only that, there is no standard, government or regulators always turn a blind eye to big corporations like this. They keep renaming their ticket classes blue, mint, tomato, salt and pepper, etc.. When you compare prices on Kayak, etc you can never be sure you are getting a good deal, sometimes until you fill in all your information and right one step before finalizing purchase they reveal all details & charges. Kayak was doing a great job at matching by selecting how many bags you are checking, etc, but even then the airline hits you with "seat fee" like what cruises used to do "guaranteed seat" but it could be next to bathroom or in the middle of 4 seaters..

There has to be standard in naming these ticket classes, just like gasoline, and these prices should be made easily available. Then from there on, if you don't use certain things, like you have 0 carry on, here is a credit for next flight, or like you say 1 carry on but this lady has a carry on, huge backpack and a purse size of luggage, calling it "personal item" should really be stopped at the gate. It's all nonsense.

And then, they delay the flight, or make you wait 2 hours for your luggage, who do I send the bill for that? I am not talking about Jetblue specifically but in general aviation industry.

It feels like every company that used to offer free carry-on's doesn't do it anymore...

That is so true and I have never thought about that. They are selling the same product across many different markets at different prices with different names with no way to compare if 'salt' and 'pepper' are the same or different products.

AA recently cancelled a 6AM flight of mine from RDU to MIA. I was informed by a text message at 330 AM. (their website said it was only delayed). 1-1/2 hours on hold to find out which was true and that the "severe weather" had cancelled the flight and there would be no reimbursement because of this 'act of god.' Problem is there wasn't a rain drop, weather warning, or even mild wind in RDU, MIA or anywhere in between. Plus the flight just does milk runs between the two cities its so it is not like it was coming from a 3rd city that might be having bad weather. 5 itineraries (they kept messing something up or forgetting to book tickets on another airline) and 36 hours later I was finally in the sky without a dime or upgrade from American because they 'don't control the weather,' just make it up.

JetBlue may technically fit within the budget airline class, but I feel like a VIP when flying them, and a distant afterthought on American. Their people seem to genuinely care about the passenger experience and work to make it a positive one. Juxtaposed to the DMV like customer experience with AA - I think it's a luxury airline.

Southwest still does two free checked bags and of course your personal carryon. Always very happy with SWA. One of the best ran airlines operating today.

Jet blue sucks. I got trapped in on the east coast for 5 days and had my flight canceled 3 times in a row while I was at the airport.

Save your money

So, out of curiosity, I just checked my flight to San Diego for November. The bad news is that it's now $50 cheaper (but it would cost $100 to cancel and rebook.)
The good news is that they reclassified the seat that I paid $19 for to "even more space"TM, which is now $130. I'm sure I won't get the extra perks, like faster checkin, but at least I'm getting the extra space without paying for it.
So, you win some, and you lose some.

Totally agree. SW is my preferred airline by mile purely for the no change fees alone!

Just returned from Myrtle beach 2 weeks ago. I got none of that?!
In addition, except I have to pay $80 (more!) for the luggage
And oh yeah, It's Spirit and unfortunately, I couldn't pick any other airlines. Confused

Southwest has been my go to for years purely based on no gimmicks to bring a bag that you obviously will have for a flight and low reasonable fare

Trying to call them is the worse experience, they just don't answer calls anymore, or tell you 2 hour wait. There is always "covid" excuse, what a nice excuse... Short of manpower excuse, well then don't sell the tickets. We are being pushed to agree to very low standards, so that we can be pushed or magically agree to pay for upgrades. You cannot complain to anyone. The industry has us all by the tail.
