This is a solid value.
Unfortunately, I really don't have much to spend, maybe extra 10%~15% max.
This is a solid value.
There is a Best Buy review from someone with two bootlooped of these. And matching the performance of a 15-year-old

Intel Core i7-4600U @ 2.10GHz
Intel Core i7-7Y75 @ 1.30GHz
Intel Core i5-5350U @ 1.80GHz
Intel Xeon X5460 @ 3.16GHz
The Xeon X5460 on this list really doesn't meaningfully belong here since that CPU technology sounds better than it was (i.e. - Xeon means this beats a SERVER!). The Xeon X5460 model rolled out in 2007 and is the Xeon equivalent of the Core2 Quad series (so an equivalent retail CPU would be around a Core2 Quad Q9650). These CPUs are still functional (I still daily drive a Core2 Quad system as my media playback PC for my projector) but also haven't been new in retail for over a decade. In fact, the Core2 Quad is the last four-core, non-low power/mobile i-series CPU with which the N5030 competes horsepower wise. A first-generation i5 should crush these numbers (note that four-core i3 models didn't appear until the 8th generation).
The N5030 is definitely a miracle of engineering for accomplishing in 6 Watts what used to require 90 Watts. That doesn't make it a recommendable machine for running Windows as a primary PC.
The rest of the CPUs on the list are all low-power (even lower than the N5030 in most cases), dual-core i-series CPUs. The dual core i-series budget CPUs, particularly the ultra-low power Y and U models, have consistently proven to lack the longevity of their 4-core counterparts as operating systems and applications have become increasingly capable of supporting multiple threads/cores (even browsers today leverage both!).
This system may be functional for some users, and advanced users may have some optimized applications for such a PC, but otherwise I'd recommend dumping the Passmark comparison as validation of the day-to-day usefulness of this laptop. An interesting footnote, but especially considering the selection of CPUs a potentially misleading one.
Good luck!
Jon
In the category of affordable (<$200) fanless laptops, this is about the best you'll do in terms of performance for something that's in New condition (excluding 2-in-1s like the Surface).

Unless they need Windows software, if they're just doing stuff online, Chromebooks are much more capable with lesser hardware.
