Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I picked up the geobook 120 (a lesser machine) for my son as a "toy with purpose for Xmas last year. Understanding it's limitations it's really a great little machine. He plays Minecraft and most Roblox games and watches YouTube saves digital photos from his action cam and has a great time with it. Also he can connect the geobook 120 to my dock via usbc and use the monitors and keyboard and mouse. He is a tad younger but not super young and knows the difference between his laptop and our family gaming rig. I would totally recommend this to anyone as long as they know what their getting. This IMO is better then nearly any chrome book I've ever used. As a reminder my opinion is based on a lesser machine and as such I paid less last Christmas thanks to some SDers bringing it to our attention.

Nice! I like that it's not 1366x768 resolution.
I've been looking for a cheap WIn10 laptop for ham radio stuff and I think this would satisfy that need.

Not a bad deal for an item that's decently sub $200.

I am not bashing it here; I'm just astounded it's USB C with 2.0. I had no clue that was a thing.

Not bad for the price understanding the limitations on the screen type and the CPU. Keyboard and ports are identical to the walmart Gateway 14" that I am using and I expect the same manufacturer. Search SD for "Gateway" for comparison.

Keep in mind:

Chromebook =/= sub-par performance. Your statement is pretty bold. How expensive of chromebook machines have you used?
Sub $400, multiple models and manufacture, and for business purposes utilizing VDI clients.

Correct amount of RAM, decent size/resolution.

Seeing a Gemini Lake Refresh quad-core at this price point leads me to wonder how much Alder Lake-N 4/8-cores are going to cost when they debut.

I think I have seen it on some other deal. Maybe it's a mistake by Best Buy but it is technically possible:

USB Type C is supposed to be a universal standard, but it's just universally confusing. A USB Type C port can run at either 5Gbps or 10Gbps and still be labeled USB 3.1 by the laptop maker. USB Type C even technically supports USB 2.0 speeds at a pathetic 480Mbps. So when you see a USB Type C port, the only assumption you can make is that its transfer speeds can vary from as low as 480Mbps to as high as 10Gbps.
None of Wikipedia's long articles on USB seem to mention that a USB-C port can be 480 Mbps maximum, just that a cable can.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has USB C at 2.0 (and thus can't use DeX)

Thank you for just convincing me to never buy one.

I mean, I have a Fold 3, but I always thought a Flip might make for a good DeX project device.

The reviews on Best Buy's site give conflicting answers. There is an answer in the answers section by "Support" (who I'm assuming is somebody from Geo, but I'm not sure) that says that it does not have a fan: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ques...683bc4b7cc

This is way better than your entry-level Chromebook.

Probably, the tdp is 6w.

Fun fact, these are supposed to be as fast, or faster than, the iconic Core 2 Quad Q6600, probably a little faster than the Q9650. It'll get the job done, I'd be more concerned with whether or not the 'ssd' is emmc.
