Strictly for charging, does it matter that it's not 100w, or does that only matter for data transfer?

if you have a usb charger and device that can handle and transfer 60W or less then it is good cable, you can check monoprice for similar they have the 100W in case you need in the future for let's say a mbp14" or 16"

For most devices except laptops, this can do max capacity charging. For larger laptops like new MacBook Pro models, you'll likely want cables that can go up to 100W for fast charging.

Aren't all USB C cables capable of 60w? I understand paying a premium for a 100w cable, but $10 for a standard USB C cable doesn't sound like a deal to me.

Yes, that's the minimum requirement of the spec. Most will be charging cables that are only usb2.0 though (this one is).

https://www.amazon.com/Certified-...08Q79BY1X/ is actual high speed.

Tried their powerline II cable for a lightning cable a while back and I had to return it. It was so stiff, with the cable being 6ft, it made it difficult to keep my phone where I wanted it to stay. Nice product, just too inflexible and heavy for what I wanted. FYI for what it is worth.

It is disgraceful they don't even write that it's USB 2.0 anymore in the specs. This isn't a deal

any cable that satisfying usb-c standard can carry up to 60W. it is the 100W or above that need special chips and certification, and worthy of mentioning.

Most new phones are usb 3.1. Most cheap cables are 2.0. Make sure you get what your phone/device is capable of.
