Just bought one of these. Honestly, for the price who cares if it rusts or gets discolored? It's a fire pit, not a frying pan you're cooking food on. I have no doubt that the solo stove is a better product and would've gladly bought that for $106 instead of this for $98 had that deal not expired. But I definitely don't think the solo stove is 2.5x better than this to justify the 2.5x higher price it normally sells for. All I'm looking for is something my wife and I can sit outside with this fall, have a few drinks while looking at a fire, and come in an hour later not smelling like we each smoked a pack of cigarettes.
Great price. I've always been tempted to buy one of these types of pits, but my major qualm is you can't sit back and look AT the fire, which is important to my enjoyment. The walls block the view.

Technically this is solo stove bonfire v2 with the removable ash tray
Anyone have a side by side comparison? Even $98 feels a little steep, particularly as you add accessories (my big issue with the solo is how dang expensive the accessories are).
Brickseek says it isn't available in stores around me, but I was at Walmart two days ago and saw multiple units. Might swing by in the AM to take a look.

FWIW I bought a large Solo Stove during the AMEX promo $450 or so and sent it back after reading reviews that there is no ambient heat and because it burns so hot that you really cannot cook on it either. $100 to try one out and take back to Walmart if you don't like it seems like a much better risk/reward.

Worked again the third time I tried, so I'll see if it ships.
