I'm a little bit surprised that deals for gaming laptops aren't better and more prevalent. You could get this laptop with a 3060 and maybe a slightly worse CPU 6 months ago for the same price. And PC inventories, including graphics cards, have built up a lot since then. I really did expect OEMs to be discounting more by now

There were only a couple of such deals and the CPU wasn't slightly worse, it was substantially worse. There was an MSI with a 10500H and an HP Omen with a 5600H, both for around $800 and a RTX3060 with varying TGP. At no point has the $800 price tag been a norm for 3060 laptops; a few once in a blue moon kind of deals are an exception, not a rule, especially when the CPU, LCD and everything else is a compromise.

yeah no, the 5600H is a luxury unit compared to 11th gen and older intel CPUs

you can at least make it last more than 4 hours while on battery

When it comes to gaming laptops usually the most concerning parameter is performance and perhaps throttling as opposed to battery life. You should probably stick to low-powered RTX 3050 if battery life is more important for you. A full powered, 130-140W RTX 3060 will not give you good battery life, and if it does, that thing will be too heavy and too thick to be called portable.

you guys do realize that most laptops run on integrated graphics when it's doing normal tasks right?

and the Lenovo Legion 5 is not portable?

this 8gb of ram garbage is such a joke nowadays. OSX and Windows 10 routinely use up 4gb's of ram just using a browser nowadays let alone having stuff like discord, youtube, or similar apps running. 16gb has been the minimum for the past 5 years.

Nvidia/AMD are dragging their feet because they got surprised by the bitcoin crash and are trying to maintain pricing levels, so retailers won't start really discounting until they know exactly when the next gen cards are going to hit laptops. Most laptop buyers don't track this stuff at all, they just look at what's available at the time they want to buy.

So this laptop coming down in price from $1k to $790 20% off should be like bitcoin at from $53k down to $20k 60% off?
