Yes, it's a synthetic leather material- which isn't bad on its own, but as I stated above I've had issue with sole wear, durability, and stitching on these products. After 2-3 tries I swore off and will only buy real Clark's after that (rocking my Clark's Chuka boots right now in fact: $52 from Nordstrom Rack LMAO)
Yikes - no leather!!
I still treasure my older shoes which are made in Italy of pure leather and only cost me $49 from Macys back then. 6 yrs and still going strong. All I do is polish them for a new look.

Both rockport and Clark were much better made 20 years ago. Neither deserves a premium price any longer.
Clarks kind of departmentalized themselves too. They have a "cheap" line, and they have their well-built line. You can tell the difference too: Clarks stores at malls tend to feature their high-end products and you'll pay well over $120 for a pair. You'll see them use a high-durability rubber sole combined with layered leather, and the upper is 100% sustainable leather. THESE are the Clarks you want to look for, and you'll often find older models at places like TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, or Saks Off 5TH for 50-80% off. I'm a fan of Chuka boots (great with jeans!) and their Bradish Lace line.

Other well built dress/business casual shoes in this call to look for: Florsheim, Nunn Bush (nicest insole), Aldo, Cole Haan, Stacey Adams, and even Banana Republic.

The thing to look for is the leather soles. If they're all rubber (especially light-weight black rubber), they're probably their lower-end models. The soles that are all leather or leather with rubber skid pads are usually the higher-end line. Search these out at discount stores or on-line sales (Macys and JCPenney are famous for shoe blowouts at the beginning of the year). If you can, buy a few pairs to keep them rotated.

I wear dress shoes to work and rotate about 10 different pairs, so I put new ones in stock in my closet when I can get a good price.

That's my "make your feet look good" advice. Hope it helps laugh out loud

New synthetics aren't that bad truthfully. They're light weight and some are even breathable- preventing swamp foot from those 12 hour work days. They're even repairable and have a lot of benefits of leather.

The problem is shoes with high grade synthetics are often the same price as leather counterparts. I have a pair of Cole Hann dress shoes with a synthetic upper plus rayon mesh slots for venting. They look great and they're honestly as comfortable as sneakers, and they've held up really well for 2 years now (just had to change the insoles a couple of times).

Bad synthetics will start to peel and are very susceptible to scratches and wearing. I had a pair of Stacey Adams shoes that looked like a frayed shirt toward the back of my right foot from it rubbing on the carpet of my car while my foot was on the gas pedal.

Yeah- if you can get some true Italian leather shoes, you're going to have them for decades if you take care of them. I'll see pairs of Ferragamos or Brunis in thrift stores beat to hell and have been tempted to buy them and get them reconditioned, but I have too many projects going on as it is Big Grin

good shoes for the office. comfy and goes well with slacks or khakis. Not dressy enough for a suit however.

they do tend to wear out kind of quickly though, but for ~$30 I just keep buying them

Nice. I love Rockport but haven't had this exact one before. All others lasted a long time. Got a black and dark brown. Thanks, can't beat that price.

Anyone can speak to the quality? There were a couple of bad reviews
I got the black shoes a couple months ago or maybe a year ago. I believe they're a bit overprice for what you get. They feel comfortable, but fit larger. I'm 11 and bought 10.5. Perfect fit.

I received mine and they look clumsy and cheaply made...I am going to return.
