How are these? I feel like I remember reading on another deal post that one of their sanders wasn't great, though I could be misrembering. Seems like a good deal, and I've got nothing but good things to say about all the other tools I have in this line.

I have the orbital and it's...fine. it eats batteries as you'd expect but the vibration transferred to your hand is quite high and it really takes quite a bit to keep it on task, very squirrelly. That said I am heavily invested in Ridgid and do use it from time to time

In other threads about the orbital sander, people says it's pretty bad, pulling where it wants to go. Project farm has a video about sanders, https://youtu.be/uCVXFhSvyeA

I haven't had any problem with it sanding a deck.

OP here. Reviews are generally positive of these two sanders if you look on YouTube. When these sanders were on sale in the past, and posted here on SD, there were some critical comments about them. But yeah, at the same time, others said they were fine, too. I am not a professional--just a home handyman--and I plan to use these as needed for household projects. If I were a professional carpenter, and my livelihood depended on this, I might buy a different brand, but yeah, at a significantly higher price. But what makes Ridgid brand absolutely unbeatable and compelling for a home handyman like myself is the LSA... Yes, you do have to be diligent and file your paperwork on time, but if you can manage that, you can count on these tools and batteries lasting for a lifetime because Ridgid will replace them free of charge as needed. Ah, I have already bought into the Ridgid 18V ecosystem (mostly because of the LSA) and have several other tools and batteries. So that fact--plus the price--is what sold me on this deal. If you do not already have batteries, this might not be of interest.

This is a great deal. I have the orbital already and have used it on several large and mid-sized wood working projects with consistently good results. If I didn't already have the orbital, I'd jump on this in a heartbeat.

For what it's worth, my father is a professional carpenter and contractor who owns a host of "professional grade" equipment and he's consistently said nothing but good things when using my Ridgid tools on various home projects.

I essentially grew up on and around construction sites and these Ridgid tools are legit. The fact that they come with the LSA is just gravey.

I've been using the orbital sander practically every day since I got it in February. It dances around a bit, but it's nothing I can't handle. I've been using 60, 80, 120, 180, and 220 grit discs with it, and I have no complaints. I certainly can't complain for the $50-ish I got it for (sans battery).
