Is this better than the Farpoint 40? I'm tempted but a lot of reviews I'm seeing say Porter is too large as a carry-on and also uncomfortable.

- It's not designed for vigorous hiking.
- Filled to max capacity, it's beyond carry-on dimensions, HOWEVER, many report no issues with domestic carriers when it comes to denial or raising eyebrows. EU travelers report a big YMMV.
-For what it's worth, my carry-on roller is beyond max allowance too, but I've never had any issues in 15yrs of traveling domestically.
I plan on using this for 3-4 day duration trips, both via air and car. It won't be at max capacity and I plan on compressing it down to act as my "personal item" so I don't have to deal with overhead storage. I've been doing this with the 40L backpack the Porter replaces, so I don't anticipate any issues.
