At over 4lbs these are not for backpacking.

I just purchased 2 of the single sleeping bags. Reviews state they don't keep you that warm if under 50, unless you stuff in clothes or blanket to help take up some of the dead air. I plan to have a blanket inside it and think it will be fine.

You'll definitely want a mummy bag when the temperature drops, as these rectangles aren't going to cut it. The double might be fine, though, as it traps the body heat of the second person. Never had any issues being cold when my wife and I would share one.

This double sleeping bag comes in regular (for up to 72") and long (up to 78"). weighs 7-8 lbs so definitely not a hiking sleeping bag but good price for spring/fall car camping. Reviews are mixed but seem to be on par with other double bags. 75% off listed price of $229

REI Co-op Siesta Hooded 25 Double Sleeping Bag $57.17 -This item doesn't qualify for the current 20% coupon.

Make sure you put macaronis inside the bag to keep you hungry and cold.

I have the Double and really like it. Used it one time at <40°F and I was really comfortable, temp wise. Wife was still pretty cold though. I'm not a fan of the mummy style bags, so I've been waiting on for the single to go on sale, so thanks!

Thanks OP! Ordered the Long. I love having room for my feet. I usually wear socks when sleeping in a sleeping bag to keep my feet warm.

Ordered both single and double in long versions. Can always return if I don't like them since I'm close to an REI too.

I have this for myself, after using various mummy bags. I tend to sleep on my stomache and sometimes side and the mummy bags were too constraining, but definitely warmer. I'm 5'9 and even the regular version of this one was quite long leaving dead space beyond the feet as well as the sides. It will be cooler than a mummy bag, but I run hot so it was fine for me. It allowed me to sleep with sweats/clothes on if I wanted and still feel comfortable to move unlike the mummy bag. Note that it packs up to about 2x the size of the mummy bags.

Purchased the double sleeping bag for camping in August at Sequoia, at night around 40degree it was COLD. If you are planning for winter camp this will not keep you warm.

What kind of sleeping pad did you pair it with?

I have an older, non-hooded version of this that I love. I'm a cold sleeper, and even in moderate temps, I used stay up all night shivering and freezing when my partner and I would camp. We went to REI and picked up one of these hoping his body heat would help keep me warm and I've been a comfortable camper ever since.

Don't expect this to keep you warm to 25 degrees...in fact, the comfort rating is probably more like 45 degrees, but for the temps in which I usually camp, that's just fine.

During the beginning of the pandemic, I missed camping and being outdoors so much that we camped in the yard every weekend for months throughout the fall and winter with this bag, and I slept like a baby. Well worth the money if you're planning on car camping.
