Not sure if it's better though. From what I understand, the 1900 has an induction motor, but the 1700 has higher GPM than the 1900 (which of course has a little more psi).

What's more important? Trying to decide between the two.
I've used the 1900 a bit and it is a bit more quiet than previous PW's I've owned, but still of course pretty loud. It's almost like there is acoustic dampening inside the housing (there's not, it's just more solidly built - a LOT more solidly built since it's like 50 lbs), and I assume the motor technology is responsible for the almost 'muffled' sound.
It honestly seems no better or worse than previous PW's in terms of output and more importantly, results. I do like the turbo nozzle that most (all?) Karcher's include. It's definitely made better than any PW I have ever owned, including another Karcher (which lasted for years, and abused).
