Looks like the biggest issue is shipping damage. Some missing parts or faulty lock. One person upset it wasn't built already. 🙄 But seems like a decent price.

Alternatively, this Husky one is very similar in size and $259 at H.D. on sale in black or red for Labor Day, which would be easier to return if damaged, or take your chances with this. I don't care, but I know I wanted to see my options. Also noticed, the Husky has a lifetime guarantee, no receipt and no questions.

The least of your worries is a coat of paint. Won't last outside. Hinge points and mounts will rust. By year two it will fall apart and just fill another landfill.

The Husky has pegboards on the doors whereas the Fedmax does not. The Fedmax does have a 900 lb weight limit whereas the Husky has 450 lbs max. Weight is 97 lbs vs 99 lbs, so likely both 24 gauge steel. Decisions decisions.

Seems nice to me. I bought one for the outside side of my house (with the expectation that I'll probably have to hit it with another coat of paint every year or two).

Eh maybe/probably. I'll cover it with an awning and grease the hinges.

I set up four of these a few years ago. One of them came a little banged up in the box, but once I put it together it was very sturdy.
I was very happy with them and would buy again if needed.

I need something like this at work... We have a theft issue. Both students and one or two staff members have stolen food and other things. I'm just not confident in the build quality of this. And while I could have it shipped to work, I don't have a guarantee on the time of day that it would arrive. Also unsure if this one (or even the Home Depot linked one) will be easy to move by myself via a dolly. Am thinking I'm probably still better off with some filing cabinets, lockable lunchbags, and maybe lockable bins...

Based on the weight (both are just short of 100lb),I'd say they're the same Guage steel. But lifetime guarantee with home depot local does seem worth the extra $50.

That's my thought. The damage would be my biggest concern, and being able to return it. I saw a van life guy buying cabinets for his workshop he's renting, and I think one of the cabinets was severely damaged and he had to wait another week to get a replacement.

I would think they both hold the same amount of weight, but one could be inflating their claim. Only 450 pounds with the Husky, but it sits on feet and the other appears to sit on the floor. I'm sure if you replace the feet or set it directly on the floor it would hold more. At least on the floor of the cabinet it would hold more.

They're the same weight and constructed the same, so I'd tend to think it's Chinese brand spec inflation. Normally I'd go with the cost savings, but as you cna see from my outdoor use case and thumbs down posts... Probably better to go with extra warranty.
