These are great! I have 3 of the x68s and I get up to 500mbps in most places on 5ghz channel. This deal is just okay IMO as Costco has a 3 pack of the newer Wifi 6E version for 299 right now, and I believe they had a 3 pack of these x68s for 200 about a month back. I guess if there are no other sales and you have a smaller house and just need 2 units then okay, otherwise I would go for 3 units (I have one in computer room hooked up to the cable and then one upstairs and one in basement)

I read 6E devices aren't common so you might be future proofing but it also might be many years before you have any 6E devices. Any truth to that? I'd guess high-end phones will be first to have, so you might have one device with 6E and maybe your laptop (when it's due for an upgrade).
Edit: nevermind, there's a good review on Costco on this 6E system. Definitely skipping it until v2 or v3 of these 6E devices.

Yes I have heard same, that 6E isn't really prevalent right now but will be coming. I just got a brand new S22+ and I believe it has 6E but the regular S22 does not. I would suggest if you can find a better deal on the X68 (also W7200 is the same exact thing) to buy that instead if it saves 100 bucks or something. If it only saves 25 bucks then get the newer 6E version
If you are relying on the wireless backhaul on the 6e and do not have a clear pathway/close in proximity then the 6e may be worse due to short range performance. 6e would outperform in a dedicated wired backhaul situation in comparison to the wifi6 but the wifi6 has better range if wireless backhaul mesh is needed.
