1. If you can wait, wait. Let them prices keep falling.

2. Generally not recommended to use an RX6600, RX6600XT, or RX6650XT in a PCIe 3.0 motherboard since these cards only use 8 PCIe lanes (despite installing into the regular PCIe x16 slot.) There can be a performance hit due to a bandwidth bottleneck. PCIe 4.0 boards have twice the bandwidth per lane so this isn't an issue on them. Admittedly there is debate on how often the hit is noticeable, but the 16 lane RX6700 is down to $355 and dropping LINK [newegg.com] and seems to me to be a worthwhile upgrade for PCIe 3.0 boards.

Cheers

Power Color has been making AMD GPUs for a long time now. Think Sapphire is random as well?

This would be a solid price for the 6700 XT.

I don't agree with your PCIe 3.0 analysis. The above link saw, on average, a 2% drop in frames versus a 4.0 setup. They had one exotic game engine with a much larger loss, but they also noted that the biggest discrepancies are at higher frame rates in general. Even with the performance hit, you're going to have trouble finding more fps/$ than the RX 66xx family in this price range.

I wish someone had a good 99% frame time chart covering the same info, but oh well.

The RX6500, on the other hand, gets wrecked in a 3.0 board because it only has 4 lanes.

For 1080p gaming, would I be better served going with the RTX 2060 6GB if the motherboard (AB350 Pro4) and CPU (Ryzen 5 1600 AF, the $85 pseudo-2600) are limited to PCIe 3.0? I was thinking of going with the 6600 XT, above for $315, then considered the RX 6600 (non-XT) for $250; but now wondering if I should go RTX 2060 {the weakest} for $230 if the extra $20-$85 can't be taken advantage of with my old components. I don't plan on doing another build for awhile. These were just spare parts I've been sitting on (have an 11th gen i5 + RTX 3060 in my laptop, hooked to two monitors). Thanks in advance!

Seems to me, you need to go to a 3070/6700 to start to have to really worry about CPU bottlenecking with a Ryzen 2600.

Meh. Waited two years already and I can wait longer. Also OPs have a bad habit of not putting the bit rate interface of 128 bit in the description. Junk card save your money and wait after the Eth Merge in September.

Thank you for the feedback... my son has a PCIe 3.0 on his older motherboard and we'll consider the 6700 instead of the 66xx GPUs. That said, any hit with the 3060 or 3060Ti?

Thanks and repped Thumbsup I've been out of the building 'game' for a few years and I'm rusty (if it wasn't already painfully obvious). Appreciated Smilie

Nope no hit with 3060 or 3060 Ti on PCIe 3.0.
