I'm seeing that, maybe even stock near me. I guess it might be worth that depending on what you value the parts at. Like maybe you peg the rest of the components around $300 total ($120 CPU), so the GPU is $100.
I hate working on HP machines, proprietary parts, and things are difficult to get at.
For 5 years, i had a job working on HP machines. That was about 5% of the job, and it was more loathsome than the other 95%. Replacing a motherboard in an HP laptop was a nightmare. I swore I would never buy an HP computer of any type.

This HP is all proprietary, including the front I/O being built into the motherboard.
The way prices have been falling, this does not seem like a good deal.

Zero proprietary parts. I actually swapped everything into a cooler master case and added more ram, a couple SSDs, and a big ass CPU cooler.

I used a vetroo v5 CPU cooler, might not be necessary for you with a Ryzen, but I was a little worried about my 11th gen i7 running hot.

So if thats what your kid wants then this will suffice.
Also, there is a similar PC with a 3060 for $150 more.
A 3060 is miles ahead of this thing.

Not available at the moment, but this post is from 9 hrs ago. They've been going in and out of stock for the last couple weeks.
I think it's absolutely worth the wait though.
