I have one of these. Great travel laptop and it's even a half decent gamer. I also balked at the 8gb soldered, but with the GPU having it's own 2gb memory it hasn't been an issue. I upgraded the nvme to a 1tb for around $100.... be careful opening it and go slow, it's kind of a pain to open without snapping the plastic tabs.

It does get warm while gaming, so maybe not on your lap. Surfing / watching youtube, no problem. But when I game I put on a table, and prop up the rear with a coaster or deck of cards or something. This opens up a little airflow to the bottom, where the intake is.

The keyboard backlight is a little weak, and with the grey/silver keys it can be a little hard to make out. Not a huge deal.

I just weighed mine and it says 2 lbs 15 oz.

I love that it is USB-C charged, which I can also use for my phone or other devices. So nice not to have to carry extra chargers around.
It says right on the eBay page:
"Weighs 2.91 lbs. and measures 0.66" thin"
Lowest price so far, but the 8GB soldered RAM is still the weakest link. Good that it has 2GB for the discrete GPU.

Wow, that's not really "Zenbook" weight -- that's over 2 lbs heavier than my current Zenbook. Thanks.

[edit] Apparently it's lighter than that, which makes more sense. See below.

Most sites list that as the weight, but that doesn't sound right to me. Closest I could find direct from Asus was the Q407 at 1.15kg/2.53lbs: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/F.../techspec/

4.xlbs is more typical of a 17 incher: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-.../techspec/

Isn't this a 1st gen CPU? Still good but way too pricey for that. The on-board graphics are just as good as the MX450. You can play simple games only, no F1, Madden or Mmorpgs.

No it's not a first gen cpu. It beats Core i7-10750H.

It's a bit of a mixed bag. At lower settings, the MX450 will be much faster. 100-200% faster in some cases. As you increase the quality settings and it goes beyond the 2GB of VRAM the MX450 has, the performance becomes terrible. At that point though, you're trading off 20 fps on the integrated video vs 15 fps on the MX450.

Agreed. Keep stuff at 1080 med/low or 720p high, and the MX450 sings. I play Redout on 1080 high, Hades on 1080 med, Tiny Tina Wonderlands on 1080 low, Outer worlds on 1080 low. They all look fine on the laptop screen. Now, I did plug a TV in once and tried to play Tiny Tina and that wasn't an awesome experience.

But this isn't a gamer laptop. It's a nice light/small/cheap-ish travel laptop that can also game. If you want GPU power on the cheap look at the Acer Nitro series or similar big ass heavy but affordable gamer laptops.

Asus also makes a GPU less version of these for like $50 cheaper, if you can find it. I say the MX450 (with it's dedicated 2gb vram) is worth 50 bucks.

I'd rather have this laptop. Although I'm not a fan of Gateway and know Asus is typically a lot more reliable, the specs of the Gateway are a lot better.
