Lowrance Elite-12 Ti2 Portable Fishfinder Active Imaging 3-in-1 Preloaded C-Map US Inland Mapping
Bought this last Black Friday for $998 and thought it was a pretty good deal. Screen is large enough I can see it from the transom. Quite a lot of bang for the buck at $839.
Out of the box the configuration leaves a lot to be desired, but tons of videos got it configured pretty quick.

For those of us who haven't kept up on fishfinders but are interested in the latest, what other "must-haves" or "nice-to-haves" should be considered? For example, perhaps new models can be tethered to a smartphone wirelessly for real-time maps/other data? Or, a new type of imaging/downscan/sidescan?
Personally, software/firmware updates are important to me, so if one manufacturer is clearly better than the rest in that regard, I'd try to prioritize them.
