Hi, I found this deal for a barebone MiniPC:
Minisforum offers an additional $20 off coupon code, which is shown in a banner on the UM350 product site there. The code 9QNPYHSCXPQK is valid until 9/11.
You can apply the code for all variants, the price of $249 is for the barebone version, which means you still need to add RAM and a SSD.
DDR4 memory is quite cheap now and there are many great deals here on SD for SSDs.
It supports both a m.2 as well as a 2.5" SATA SSD. For the RAM you need SODIMM sticks like they're used in laptops.
- AMD Ryzen™ 5 3550H
- Radeon Vega 8 Graphics
- DDR4 8GB×2 Dual channel (SODIMM Slots×2)
- Upgrade-friendly
- Supports 3 monitors (4K@60Hz)
- M.2 2280 PCle SSD / 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD
Ports:
- RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Port×1
- USB3.0 Port×1 (Gen1, Yellow)
- USB3.0 Port×3 (Gen2 , Blue)
- USB-C Port×1 (Gen2)
- HDMI ×1
- Display Port×1
- Audio Jack x 1
- Digital MIC×1

I am very tempted to get an 11th gen mini PC but I know next year the 1240P will also be $300 (also because the 10th gen ones are like ~200-250 now)
let's see if SD will let me post an aliexpress link...

This is a "high-performance" mobile CPU based around very early cycle AMD (pre-we're killing Intel every day). As such, it can take advantage of being packaged into a desktop-ish footprint but is, ultimately, still an efficiency-oriented system more about what it does in the space it does it in. I'm very tempted but although this system is infinitely more modern and efficient than the systems to which I'm about to compare it... it doesn't also meet the "blows the doors off my ancient Phenom II 1045T CPU PCs" bar. Contrast that with something like the 1135g7 referenced earlier in this thread which, even again as mobile CPUs, blow the doors off my ancient AM4 systems.
Good luck!
Jon
Also, this 3550h has got ancient Zen 1 cores, whereas the steam deck at least has prehistoric Zen 2 cores.
If you want a small form factor PC for basic use that you can mount to the back of your monitor, you could do worse.
