I'm new to the world of NASs. How does the QNAP interface and feature set compare to Synology? Bought a Synology 218j many years ago from a deal on SD and finally set it up. Loving the user interface, but lookin for a 4 bay NAS that supports plex transcoding. Looks like this one can transcode 1080p easily.

I have both. Synology software is better, QNAP is usually cheaper.

Qnap has better hardware and synology is more like push a button and it's all set up.

Thanks. I think I'll just stick with Synology. Has been pretty easy to set up and use my DS218j so far. Will upgrade to a higher end unit at some point in the future or just hook up my 218j to an always on PC for plex transcoding.
