This type of trade-in, is it better to do it at the store, or online?

The concern for online is, they can reject your perfectly good trade-in device with bunch of excuses

PS: the fu@k with NO physical sim card on iphone 14🤬🤬

For pre-orders the only way is online, even so I mostly prefer online just to not have to pay the $35 support fee they always charge.

In some places they accept trade-ins from online orders. You can call your nearest stores and ask about it.

Other thing you can do is talk with T-Mobile on Twitter or FB and send them a picture of your trade-in for them to at least tell you it's good; and thus have proof in writing.

I also always take pictures or videos of the device and show it's IMEI, before shipping it out, so if anything happens after the postal service takes it, I have proof.

Buy the new phone at the store. Then give them your old phone. If you order the phone online and try to give the old phone to the store. Most likely they will tell you to ship it yourself.

I think I am ready to make the switch to T-Mobile and Magenta Max, I have been with Total Wireless for a few years now, but de-prioritized Verizon has been killing us lately. I have been using T-Mobile 3 month Network Pass for a week, the coverage and speeds are way better than Total Wireless. I also have T-Mobile Unlimited 5G Home Internet, which is working really well for me and I intend to keep at least until fiber is available at my address.

Current cellular plan and devices:

Total Wireless 4 lines /100GB shared for $100.00

iPhone XR 64GB, unlocked
iPhone 11 64GB, unlocked
iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB, unlocked
iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB (water and rear camera damage), unlocked

I no longer need the 4th line, so from what I see on T-Mobile's site I would be at $140.00 per month all in before device installment costs for three lines. Not sure if they are still offering the $20.00 Home Internet discount with Magenta Max, but that would bring the monthly bill down to (effectively) $120.00 per month with auto pay.

I think it may be worth it switching even without getting any new devices for the speed, coverage, and priority, but wanted a second, third, and fourth opinion. Porting out always gives me anxiety!

Also, does anyone have any recent experience with replacing a device at Apple that is damaged and out of warranty? I believe that the cost to replace the damaged 12 Pro Max is like $600.00? Is it even worth it? Will that cost drop slightly once the 14 is available?

Please help me decide the best way to go about this. I am willing to upgrade all three lines to a new device, if it makes sense.

iPhone XR - Not currently in use
iPhone 11 - Me
iPhone 12 Pro Max (damaged, but working) - Daughter
iPhone 12 Pro Max - Wife

I usually get the hand me downs and low cost upgrades, the Wife would be content with her current device but would welcome a new 14 Pro Max, and my Daughter with the damaged but working 12 Pro Max is at my mercy. laugh out loud She should be getting a flip phone as punishment for damaging her phone out of warranty.

Thank you for reading and offering any advice!

Not fake. OP deleted post cause everyone was messaging and complaining. It's been reposted and pinned on the T-Mobile subreddit.

If y ou need to replace an Apple product out of warranty, ALWAYS talk to Apple first. They will usually do something fairly decent. Also, if you are looking to purchase because they cannot help as much as you'd like or something, check the refurbs on the Apple website. Apple refurbs get the exact same warranties as a brand new device and they are literally treated by Apple like they are brand new. They have an announcement coming out in a few hours so there is no access to the online store, but if you scroll down to the bottom, you will see "Refurbished and Clearance".

Also if your coming to TMO Magenta Max, lookup insider codes, it will give you 20% off your plan.

You just have to find one or a rep that's willing to give you one. They usually do since your bringing over more than 1 line, don't be afraid to ask for it.

I suggest trade-in your iPhone 12 Pro Max at Best Buy for Samsung S22 first then upgrading the S22 to iPhone 14 models for the most value. This thread has all the information.

Rationale:
1) BB is offering $900 from the 12 Pro Max in the instore only Samsung upgrade promotion.
2) Unlocked Samsung S22 only costs $550 with T-mobile Activation (new line) or $650 with T-mobile Activation (upgrade).
3) You will get the difference (mostly) back as a Best Buy gift card. For example, $900 credit - $550 S22 new line = S22 + 350ish Best Buy gift card (minus taxes and depends on how much the $900 credit is the Samsung coupon vs BB gc)
4) A day later, take the S22 and upgrade it to iPhone 14 through either T-Mobile or Best Buy.
5) Additionally, you may get lucky with your broken iPhone 12. Best Buy employees review your trade-in on the spot, so if they approve of it, the trade-in is confirmed. They don't check for water damage, and they may not see your camera damage. If one employee rejects it, another may not care.
6) You end up with new iPhone 14 and get paid by Best Buy. Insider discount can be added later by T-mobile employees.

Speculation: Other posters say that S22 are included in the trade-in bonus for iPhone 14 models. Even if S22 base models are not, S22+ are, and they are only $100 more at BB. Still end up getting paid by Best Buy.

Well, I did 4 lines with Verizon iPhone 13 pro promo last year. Hate their international plan so switched to TMobile. When I switched to TMobile, they paid the bill payment balance ($4000)..

Switched to Google Fi ($80 for 4 lines) without any more bill payments :p although kinda suck Fi on iPhone doesn't support 5G but LTE is better than 3G while I am traveling out of the country. :p
