T-Mobile worked for me overseas almost all the time with my plan. I actually preferred to use my own sim card over buying a sim from the country I was in and swapping it out. I wasn't able to get my text messages, voicemails, calls to my Iphone since my T-Mobile sim wasn't in the phone. When I took out the international sim card and put my T-Mobile sim card back in, I got hundreds of text messages and several missed calls/voicemails.

With eSim, you can download the app Airalo and just buy the data from there to your eSim and I'm able to keep my T-Mobile sim card in there and basically have 2 phone/data/text numbers in 1 phone. So I still get my T-Mobile text messages and calls. Airalo is a bit more expensive than buying a local sim, but the convenience is worth it for me.
might as well setup your tmobile as esim, local sim as regular sim. I did that.

i dont question ppl's motives and I don't care why ppl do what they do. It's not my business. You asked why some are outraged I-phone 14 doesnt have a physical SIM.
Yeah, but I didn't ask nor care whether thieves were outraged by iphone 14 removing the physical sim.

And the fact you don't find such behavior disturbing … is disturbing

might depend on country. For where I went (Iceland) the local sim was $20.63 for 5GB that expires in 30 days. The Airalo esim was 5GB for $13 good for 30 days

It's trolling to point out how bad your initial point was?

Of course you didn't receive anything when you took the sim out off the phone. Do you still expect the phone continue to work with Tmobile if there is no TMO sim card inside?

Seems to me like Apple jumped through a lot of hoops and marketing to increase what you'd expect in a new year's model by going from old base price of $700 to Pro price $1000 with how they're treating this year's upgrades.

iPhone 14 = iPhone 13 Pro (/w both upgrades [???] and downgrades [refresh rate])
iPhone 14+ = iPhone 13 Pro Max (/w both upgrades and downgrades)
iPhone 14 Pro = new processor, camera, and some new features
iPhone 14 Pro Max = iPhone 14 Pro with bigger screen and battery

So in a way, 14 and 14+ are...(more or less) discounted (refreshed?) 13 Pro and Pro Max and the real new phone starts at 14 Pro ($999)....compared to the old days of $699.

Of course not, I was just trying to warn those that never traveled overseas before and wanted to take that route of putting another sim on what could happen. I would get back to the hotel and when I was on wifi, I would stick my T-Mobile sim card back in and pull up the messages daily. Now with eSim, I don't see that as a negative like the person who I was responding to. I see it as having the best of both worlds for a slightly bigger fee for using Airalo.

Would be a bigger deal if free forever.
Have you looked at how much an InReach or Spot or BivyStick subscription costs? I realize that this isn't exactly the same thing (emergency messages and location tracking only) but that is like $30-40/mo plus the cost of the device plus the bulk!

This feature being free for two years literally pays for the whole phone for me.

Going to Italy in a month. Airalo is 5 GB for $10.50 and 10 GB is $16 for 30 days duration. That's not terribly expensive if you are going for a week or 2 of vacation.

I have 2 lines on my phone for kickback purposes. Could I not keep these with this phone?
