Have you looked at how much an InReach or Spot or BivyStick subscription costs? I realize that this isn't exactly the same thing (emergency messages and location tracking only) but that is like $30-40/mo plus the cost of the device plus the bulk!

This feature being free for two years literally pays for the whole phone for me.
I have the Inreach mini and their cheapest plan is $14.95 a month + $50 a year. You can also pause your subscription if you don't plan to use it (like in the winter months).
If I purchased a new iPhone, I would use the iPhone SOS services as a backup, and still take my Inreach to use as primary

Can I just upgrade my plan to Magenta Max today, get the phone with this trade in promotion, then downgrade my plan back to Magenta next month?
You would probably be charged full price of phone

T-Mobile worked for me overseas almost all the time with my plan. I actually preferred to use my own sim card over buying a sim from the country I was in and swapping it out. I wasn't able to get my text messages, voicemails, calls to my Iphone since my T-Mobile sim wasn't in the phone. When I took out the international sim card and put my T-Mobile sim card back in, I got hundreds of text messages and several missed calls/voicemails.

With eSim, you can download the app Airalo and just buy the data from there to your eSim and I'm able to keep my T-Mobile sim card in there and basically have 2 phone/data/text numbers in 1 phone. So I still get my T-Mobile text messages and calls. Airalo is a bit more expensive than buying a local sim, but the convenience is worth it for me.
Well explained. Don't understand some complaining about the eSim tech. It's long overdue whether carriers like it or not. You still retain the dual sim and plus more to use later. T-Mobile already includes a free 5Gb high speed roaming with the Max and One Plus Promo plans. And if you need more, then you either buy more or download the Airalo app and be done with it ( the latter is cheaper, but less convenient). I swear people complaining about Apple products either don't own one or never going to buy one. It's like their just got out of kindergarten

So the InReach costs $459 for two years of satellite service while it's free with iPhone. Such a bad deal, lmao.

What's the issue you have with e-sim? Overseas user?

I use e-sim now in a dual setup in my 13. I have one line using a physical sim and one line using e-sim. It's fine. No issues.

If there is no slot for a physical sim in the 14, does 14 allow dual e-sim?

If you're NOT in the US, you'll still have the option to use a physical sim ( e-sim functionality remains unchanged worldwide ).

However, for us US buyers.. there will be NO physical sim slot or option to use one going forward with the iPhone 14 ( pro or non-pro versions ). It's ONLY e-SIM for all US versions of the iPhone 14.

What sucks is that a new customer today can get 4 lines for $170 for MagentaMax and I as an existing customer for 6years would need to pay $200 for 4 lines of MagentaMax

Basically, if you're in the good ol'US, you will NOT have the option to use a physical sim with ANY of the iPhone 14s.. just e-sim!

If you buy the iPhone 14 ( any version ) from, say Canada.. it will have a physical sim tray/option, along with e-sim.

Kickback is one of the features of one of TMobile's old plans where if a line uses less than 2gb of data for a billing cycle, you'd get -$10 on your bill per line under 2gb.
