In my experience, Patagonia sizing is inconsistent and size guide is not always accurate so be prepared to pay for $5.99 return shipping if it doesn't fit and you don't have an REI store nearby.
Patagonia.com also has a few very limited colors/sizes of Better Sweaters on sale for same price and they'll do free exchange or give full refund if size needed isn't available. Free S&H only on $99+ though.

I'm going for the Nickel and Kansas Sky in S based on reviews, even though I should wear M based on size guide. I should be able to return for full refund if it's too small and they don't have M available.

Okay, I think I got it out of my system.

I bought 4.
Columbia is like $20
1. Almost no apparel is made in the USA anymore. If it is, its usually either of imported fabrics or a boutique company (of which Patagonia definitely is not anymore). I have a vintage bomber jacket sitting in my closet from Patagonia that was made in the USA. Once these companies get "big" they send it all overseas.
I was just having this conversation with the owner a trail running apparel company yesterday. Made in the USA usually means "cut, sewn and printed in the USA of imported fabrics. As he said "it's very, very slim pickings to find good technical fabrics that are actually made in the US".
2. Patagonia is a "premium" brand. That's why it costs more than that $20 Columbia (of which is the same exact fabric and style...heck, Eddie Bauer has the same exact jacket as well..just not in a pumpkin orange colorway I don't think).
Anyways, good deal, agree with variable sizing but also feel this is due to the materials being used to make the garmets.

Patagonia should really purchase this outfit.
