Can you stop shilling this crap. No one is spending +640 on a GPU with all the data that is out there. Start shilling when this is 300$. HODL!
I don't agree 300 but I do agree with everything else. Wait a few weeks have some self control. My GYX 970 is on its way out but man I'm not giving them 600+ as ive been waiting for years to upgrade.
I think we all deserved a fair price considering how long we have waited. I'm holding for 2-4 more weeks
How is the performance on these card compared to GTX?
I'm thinking perhaps the DLSS is more of a gamer changer for longevity.
AMD has their own super sampling tech called FSR 2.0. I'd honestly bet that AMDs implementation will be more widely used in games as it is also supported by the current game consoles. So similar effect of added performance, just likely you will see it implemented in more games due to console ports needing it to improve performance.
That said, with ray tracing off I believe 6800 xt will trade blows with a 3080 TI. If want to use ray tracing however Nvidia is just about the only viable option for most games at the moment.

I'm not so sure that FSR 2.0 will be more widely used or have more significance for two reasons
a) This could be just a repeat of FreeSync (open) vs GSync (closed)
b) My understanding is that FSR 2.0 is inferior to DLSS
The idea that it will be more implemented due to console hasn't shown to be true several times. We saw this with 8-core CPU for instance. We thought we would get better optimized games for AMD GPUs due to consoles, but that hasn't borne out either.
I wish it was true, because I do want to support the underdog. However, I'm just not seeing it.
Remember, OEM AMD has the MSRP @ $650US. Is $640 or even $600 worth it?
I think it starts to become worth it at $50 below MSRP (i.e., $599 in this case).
I'm old enough to remember Atari dumping thousands of brand-new ET cartridges in a landfill in Utah because they didn't want to devalue the product by selling them for pennies on the dollar (yes, the game was historically crappy, but the sole reason for dumping the games was economic, not market perception).
AMD/Nvidia would sooner write off the cards as a loss and dump them somewhere before they'll sell them for pennies on the dollar. Especially in the U.S., the "normal" structure of supply and demand will be manipulated to ensure that, somehow, corporations come out the other side fairly unscathed.
In the specific case of the $650 MSRP 6800 XT, I think $100 under MSRP is going to be the sweet spot ($549). It might even very briefly go $50 lower than that ($499). It might not. But I think people expecting true "fire sales" on this generation of cards may not be old enough/experienced enough to understand just how many tax/accounting safeguards are in place to protect corporations, over consumers.

You are absolutely correct! nVidia delayed the launch of the RTX 40xy because of all the surplus stock of the 30xy series. In other words, "they" have massive stock of RTX 40xy RIGHT NOW[hardwaretimes.com], but refuse to sell them now and lower the prices of the 30xy to 'fire-sale' levels.
To me, $10 off or even $50 off will be no skin of their noses. You'd think Intel would want to release their ARC cards now to take advantage of no real 'low-cost / decent' GPUs in the market now.
After years of potentially paying over MSRP, you want me to buy? Make me a REALLY GOOD deal! I want all them to feel the pain the individual consumers had to endure these past few years...

So you can spout this crap, but don't know how these compare to Nvidia cards? Or were you just looking for someone to answer so you could blather to make yourself feel intelligent?

Did I step on an AMD fanboy or are you just normally hostile?

As for me I'm waiting until Nvidia's 40 series release because at this point why wouldn't you?
