This is still the price leader in the top tier category (except for the Gamestop deal for WD SN850).

Staff needs training on how to post deals like mention capacity. Smilie

Does this need a heatsink for the PS5? Says it has a heat spreader. LOL

Thanks OP for posting this - I picked one up in the 1 TB size. This is a good NVME SSD drive. If you look at the SSD tracking spreadsheet, this Kingston KC3000 is listed as a "High-End NVME". It has tons of great reviews as being both extremely fast, reliable, and now, with this price, a good value.

Wow it seems much better than WD SN770 in terms of read / write speed, IOPs and TBW!

SN770 is a DRAM-less device. OTOH, I'd trust WD's drives more.

PCIe 5 drives are coming out very soon with the PCIe 5.0 chipsets. I don't expect them to be practically very earthshaking though.

Does lack of DRAM give wd sn770 any advantage?

I like wd brand better as well but Kingston numbers above beat wd in all 3 parameters.
Kingston also has 5 years warranty, same as wd.

Yep. It's recommended to have a heat sink for PS5.

Kingston has been making memory products long before WD got on the solid state devices bandwagon. It is a very reputable company with excellent warranty handling. They still replace my DDR3 rams when they eventually die in my servers. Smilie

I have had SSDs from them since their first gen (V series) that still works.

Yes, it saves money for WD and increases their margins. Smilie

The specs on this Gen 4 NVMe SSD are pretty decent for its price.

It definitely needs a heatsink in the PS5. The heat spreader on this is just a paper-thin piece of aluminum and only helps a little with short bursts of read or write. It'll overheat while installing games, etc in the PS5 without a heatsink.

Lack of DRAM is a cost cutting measure on cheap drives. DRAMless drives will slow down drastically while transferring large files.
