Not true, all frustration free Lego purchases I have made have always come with original Lego box with another fitted plain cardboard box outside, in which Amazon ships without putting into another Amazon box unless you check ships in Amazon packaging at checkout. I have seen on youtube that amazon may stick the shipping stickers directly on the orginal Lego box and send out that way, so checking the box to ship in Amazon packing at checkout prevents that from happening.

All the scenes look like they are packed with detail and are familiar, but I can't quite figure out the scene with the orange/kumquat tree.

I checked a few videos and reviews, but I didn't get a clear answer on what the two characters are doing with the brush scissor.

Too bad I somehow missed the release of this product when it came out; would have been fun to make during lunar new year, but hey, I can sneak in some rabbits for next year. Wink

I've never bought any of the CNY themed sets but it'd be cool if Lego included an info page in the instructions describing the significance of the scene(s) you're building. Like, I think Optimus Prime and the BTTF DeLorean comes with background info in the instructions, no?

It looks to be making those red paper decorations with good fortune words/sentences that people stick on their doors and windows for Chinese New Years. That said I don't know anyone that makes them by hand anymore, most people just buy them from stores.

The one you are talking about called spring couplets, which made by brush pen and Chinese ink. Nowadays not many people know those calligraphy brush skills. The paper-cut can be a word, an animal or a pattern.
