It says it's a weekend doorbuster only. From what I can tell the yoga has pretty decent 2 in 1 capability. It has 8gb of ram if you go with the $339 model. Let me know your thoughts.

I'll counteract a downvote because you let me know the new 11e is out. And this is a neglected segment of the market, and a solid product - despite Lenovo's locale.

That all said, this is not a "deal" - this is a new product easily obtained. When it goes on a major sale or there's a huge refurb discount, that's when you post a Hot Deal.

It says it's normally 1,129.00 from what I'm seeing.

$800 off is not a deal! You're right, rock!

And being from Lenovo, the fact is that this product is very quickly after release destined for such discounting!

Good luck!

The ruggedized, education-targeted design does indeed add value as does the touch screen. And it is saying something that this device doesn't incorporate the weak Atom-derived CPUs that has dominated most cheap Windows laptops, including prior revisions of this laptop series.

However, the CPU that is present here (m3-8100Y) is not a four-core i-series CPU that would present some long-term value. Instead, this is a low-power two-core variant from circa 2018/2019(!) - think 8th generation vs. the current 12th generation. That doesn't make this computer broken, but it does suggest that you could be making better investments unless you absolutely must find something in this ruggedized form factor (choices can be more limited in that category, especially at lower price points).

The good news about this CPU is that, despite being very low-powered, it can support an automatic update to Windows 11:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/...processors

Beyond that, however, the news is less rosy. I'd first recommend that everyone avoid the 4GB RAM variant and spend the trifling $10 extra to get the model with 8GB of RAM. RAM is otherwise soldered and cannot be upgraded. Contrast this with the SSD storage, which is field upgradeable. I've attached documentation on this from Lenovo.

Windows doesn't really perform well anymore at 4GB, as more than half of the RAM space can be consumed at idle after booting up(!), and paired with a weak CPU this just creates a negative feedback loop wherein your first application loaded after booting up starts demanding loads of page file/virtual memory/SSD-storage-as-RAM and the CPU to service those requests was already being overtasked with the basics of running Windows. The 4GB unit is better suited to power users who can make the appropriate optimizations (possibly including removing Windows for a Linux operating system).

The age of the CPU suggests a model that was built/planned right around the pandemic and sales either never materialized or production was delayed creating the backlog we're seeing discounted here. For those specifically shopping this kind of ruggedized PC the $339 price tag of the 8GB model is a reasonable device to consider. General purpose shoppers might have some interest here, too, but only if they are prioritizing the rugged features and are willing to accept the subpar performance, especially given what their dollar can buy in the recently revived retail market.

Good luck!

This model was discounted around the same price last BF/EOY. Lenovo retail prices age about as well as... Samsung's(?). That is to say, Lenovo MSRP is pretty meaningless for most of their product line, as their discounting comes very quickly behind release.

Good luck!
