This was $949 over the weekend (multiple vendors), so in real-terms it is $149 off.

Do note that while the R655 is starting to appear, only the Roku models are currently listed (no Google TV) and there are few comparison reviews comparing the 55 to the 46 yet. The Google TV is generally considered better than the Roku TV (faster, more calibration options).

The biggest "gotcha" with this TV is viewing angles. So really consider the space you're going to put this in, and if people may be sitting off-axis. Over 40% is likely not a good idea.

That all being said though, there aren't many $800 Mini-LED TVs with this many dimming zones, you can do far worse. Even at $999 (normal price) this punched above its weight.

U7H does not have mini LED tech, only
U8H. Think it's worth mentioning since you're comparing to R646.

The new R655 is only a Roku model. It looks like every other year they will upgrade the "other os". The big gain on the new model is they split the hdmi 2.1 (120hz @4k) ports seperate from the earc port. So you can run both new gaming consoles and a earc sound bar without a problem.

Not sure if that one will get the 100 back since it is a Costco specific model #. It's also new so no one really knows much yet other than it presumably has the ATSC 3.0 tuner like the U7H if that matters to you.

TCL has worked out most of the OS bugs with the R646 by now so it should be a good set otherwise and possibly better in picture quality than the U7H once we get some reviews, as it was more of a competitor to the U8G which is significantly better than last year's U7G. That's a good price point it's at for 800.

That does seem to be the consensus.

A question on this. After upgrading from Roku to Google TCL sets, I do miss the Roku functionality. In particular, Roku has an app that lets you listen to the set via your phone and its earbuds.

Can anyone point me to similar google TV functionality? I haven't had luck searching the interwebs for this. TIA!

I'm not sure how the new U75H Costco versions are different than the new U7H. I'd always go Costco, because of their warranty. I've heard the updated versions of the U6H and U7H are not going to be a huge difference to the U6G and U7G. I need to see some reviews on the U7H. I have the TCL S546 2021 model, and I like it. I'd also take a Google OS over any Roku OS.

When this first released it was buggy as all hell. Like crashes, TV restarts, bad 480p performance, etc. You can find multiple terrible reviews from around May this year on the issues. Seems like many/most got fixed in July, and it started getting positive reviews after that.

It still has downsides/limitations on the panel itself, check rtings for details. But software side it is much better. For $800 I don't know much better except previous Slick Deal clearance sets that were very YMMV. The Samsung on the front page is better but also $400 more so...

The spec sheet for the U75H on the Costco website is exactly like the one for the U7H. I also verified with Hisense the Costco U75H qualifies for the $100 gift Visa card.

I will say that the Roku set has a bit of lag compared to the Google set, but I do find myself loving the search feature of the Roku compared to that of Google. Roku makes it very clear which movies and shows are included in streaming options you have installed but I have found much harder to find the results using the Google TV. </p>

Amazon matched, but from what I see, this doesn't have Bluetooth. I use BT to listen in my earbuds at night. That's a bummer

The Samsung deal appears dead, plus, no Dolby Vision for Sammys
