Just a note, my son has this PC. This is the old case which some say has heat problems. I boosted his so there is better air flow but most people add fans. He only has a 3060ti and I added RAM to it. HP is funny with RAM so I just found the exact same sticks (something about clock speeds wont match without an AMD util).

It will also only fit a micro ATX board, so you have limited options there as well. That said, he hasnt had a single issue with it in a year. It's been great.

You are paying $600 more for GPU upgrade and CPU upgrade.

The GPU is worth about $600 more and the CPU is worth $50 more.

Essentially you are paying about regular market price for the upgrades.

6600 XT goes for $300 on sale, the 3080 is not a $900 GPU, it is a $700 GPU.

So you're paying $600 more for $450 in upgrades.

This looks really good on paper but my concern is heat.

It has a front 'cage' with one fan and one fan in the back. The top looks like a single AIO water cooler fan for the CPU. Doesn't seem like enough cooling if you're going to be running high FPS games.

I also doesn't look like there is room to upgrade by adding more fans or changing the CPU cooler.

Brother in law bought HP Omen 30L last year with 5600x, 8gb RAM, 256 NVMe, 3080, and air cooler. Pleasantly surprised that the RAM was 3733mhz even though one stick. Motherboard is mATX but had the intel mounting around the socket. Very few usb ports as well. The case is narrow so 120mm fans don't fit in the back and not much room for a decent CPU tower cooler. Ended up just upgrading to a Corsair 5000x case, a cooler master 240mm AIO (since that's what hp uses), and swapped his 5600x for my son's 5800x. I also bought him an Asus gaming wifi-ii x570s motherboard at microcenter...should have just built him a new computer but that was the cheapest was to get a 3080 last year...

Is heat an issue if you are not crypto mining?

Definitely!

I've worked on several gaming PCs recently (one I built and 3-4 pre-built). I'd say heat and power are the main issues.

Often pre-built PCs have bad case airflow. I did a YouTube video about checking new PCs and showed how I needed to upgrade and/or modify the cooling in almost all of them.

I expect the same will be needed for this PC but I'm concerned the small form factor will limit the ability to add more cooling.

Is there a way to remove part of the case and keep it open for better overall airflow and not worry about heating? Thanks

Yes run a stress test program several times in the first few days. Turn the computer off, unplug, for at least 30 min. Run again.
Do the same again a month before your warranty is up.

Do this with all store bought computers.
Which stress program and how to run/evaluate the stress level? Thanks

How hard would it be to add a fan or two for cooling in this stock case? Still looks much better than the Asus case.
