Grabbed them. Considering they come with 4x 18650's (even if they aren't high quality) that's easily worth the $20 alone, so adding the lamps to it makes these a killer deal.

If one has flat top 18650s a small magnet where the button would go allows them to use either. Protected or unprotected is a consideration. Also, from a different comment, no reason the AA batteries can't bs rechargeable too. NiMh or LiIon cam be used in many things and lower cost/create less electronic waste.

I may not have worded my question well. Some 18650 devices only accommodate unprotected cell (most of the time also flat-top) that are like 3mm shorter than protected 18650. So if you have a bunch of protected 18650 that you use for other things, you need to know if those are compatible and whether you want to get something that's basically a different battery form factor.

The built-in USB charger may only charge 18650 compartment, not the AA battery compartment. I think 18650 perform better across recharges than rechargeable nimh AA batteries. At least more usable battery curve for lights.
