Here is another bike on clearance for $98 free s/h (was 398).

Men's 27.5" Decathlon ST100 [walmart.com]

I realize this is not the same level of the original post but good deal for a bike.

LOL at thumbs down. Some people will down anything…

"You've saved $10 with WOWFRESH promo code"

Amex Everyday Bluecash supposedly 3% for online orders, YMMV if this counts for pickup...

In for one. I bought a bike for $20 that needed work yesterday....so that's backburner now LOL.

So the 5'7" person fits fine, but it's too big for the 6'0" person? That doesn't make sense to me. I'm 5'9" and I'm not sure if it will fit me.
They also make a medium frame version of this bike, I think that is what he has. I have a large and I'm 6 foot. At 5'9" you may end up returning it.

Too small for you
I would try it, I'm 6 foot ride a 58 road bike, and find this bike good.

great deal! need a light off roader and caught some good youtubes reviewing this as a decent bike for the $400 price. I was leaning towards a kent or giordano with better specs, but at this price it's a no brainer. TU!
Those bikes are all mediums. If your tall, you need not apply. The internal routing on them makes hydraulic upgrades a PITA.

I bought this and prefer building it myself - if I decide to return it in store, anyone know if I have to disassemble it and put it back into box (which is nearly impossible), or can I just roll into Walmart and return?
No you do NOT have to take it apart. Keep the tags for them to scan the bar code.

It's 100% fine for neighborhood rides as long as your not doing 20mph in the flats and 40 going down hills. The gearing is going to limit it to about 18mph doing 90 RPM, but I'm betting that is not an issue.
Due to current bike's old frame and mechanical (brakes) issue, I am well below those speeds.

Thank you for feedback… I think I am going to keep it.

Can any of you bike aficionados say if this or the Decathlon bikes are fine for the wife and I to ride around with the kids in the neighborhood streets? Not a bike person at all but I'm making the assumption that a mountain bike would be fine for the streets and occasional grass or whatever - but have no idea, really. Does it matter which one, and/or should we wait for incoming season change deals?

edit: Looks like someone already asked and kind of answered this. Will be happy to see more feedback on thoughts and suggestions, though.

How tall is your wife, this is NOT a small bike or even a medium one. 5'10" would be my cutoff. FYI this a a great deal if you fit.

I assume it's like snowblowers, when the season is nearing the end, you'll find slimmer choices but more discounts. Once it's gone, it's gone until next year. You can certainly gamble on getting more discounts. Personally, I would purchase now to at least try it for a good fair amount before it gets too cold. When you buy something and it sits in storage for a long time, you won't be able to return it if defective.

I bet you were waiting just to flex. Funny how Intense is not selling threw Costco anymore. I'm betting the return rate was unacceptable.
Like most non-kirkland select items, they are seasonal. So im sure the bike is no longer available at costco.

If you want a list of returns (https://intense951.com/collections/sale). Intense sells the return bikes on their site.

Great points. Will be keeping tabs on what people are saying are good bikes/brands to get.

Oof. She's 5' 9". I think it'll be best to watch for smaller sized bikes. Thanks for pointing that out.

So bike sizes are generalized by height, but really it is more closely related to your inseam. So two different height people can have the same inseam, or even the shorter person can have a longer one than the taller person which equates to a shorter person sometimes needing a bigger bike and a taller person needing a shorter one 🤷

What rider height is this good for?

Nevermind, I found the size chart. 5'10"-6'1"
Don't trust that. You really need to stand over (straddle) a bike to see if it fits your inseam. The last bike I bought that said it was for people 5-6 and over and it had my junk hanging over on side of the top rail. Not good! I'm 5-9. It was also a 29" wheel bike.

Inseam as in the pants inseam? If mine is 32, will this bike work for me?

Standover means little as the important measurement is the top tube. Nobody worries about standover with both feet straddling the top tube, especially on a mt bike.
