This is a decent bare bones HT speaker starting point for people who enjoy HT movie sound. Anything less is making compromises. There are much better speakers and subs you could get but likely would cost more.
You're gonna need a capable receiver. Look into Denon 3700 or better yet upcoming 3800
Is this 5.1 or 7.1?

Like everything, placement is critical and this Atmos design isn't the most optimal performing for Atmos.
You can always add Atmos later if you find you want to.
In ceiling gives you the best performance and if you can't/won't do that then height mounted speakers would be a better choice than this design.

This is actually a 5.1.2 setup.

I hear a lot of people poop on this up firing atmos speaker set up but i have a set in a living room with a flat ceiling and it sounds great. I'm no audio expert but it seems if your speakers are set up at the center point of where you sit these up firing atmos will generally be positioned well enough.
Also, I find it hard to run a 7.1 setup unless you have a "home theater" unless you just have a optimal living room setup. I find trying to setup a 7.1 in a standard living room is a bit harder for wiring and just placement (if your wife even lets you lol). These up firing atmos speakers gives you a little more sound with out having to cut holes in your ceiling (If you even have access to do that).
I hope to have a 5.1.2 setup, currently too broke for both a decent sub (SVS SB-1000 for $380 at WWStereo in Jan 2022, returned it though) & in-ceiling speakers (Polk VT60 currently runs $200/pair at Costco).
Current setup (all prices before tax):
- Denon AVR S760H (7.2ch) - $450
- Klipsch RP-250C (center) - $150
- Klipsch RP-600M (fronts) - $300
- Klipsch RP-160M (monitor - surrounds) - $250
- Total spent: $1,150
One thing's for sure - I am not going back to a soundbar.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
