This is a good price for a "meh" but fully serviceable bike - not mountain bike. Surely capable to ride around in city trails, commute etc while focusing at the lowest possible price, just don't try to follow your seasoned MTB friends on single track with this...think of it as "gravel" bike at best.

This is also not a $400 MSRP bike by any stretch of imagination, this is a $120-150 bike, or at least it was pre-pandemic.

Good value for riding around the neighborhood or gifting to a wife or a kid that won't try crazy shit on it.

I've seen this bike. There's a few of them in the endcap bike display. It seemed an odd looking bike at first, that's why I stopped and looked at it. Then I started comparing it with the 26" Schwinn next to it and figured out this 27.5" bike is a 26" bike with a extended seat. Looks kind of dorky IMO, like a low rider bike with long seat pipe.. You might want to look at it first before purchase. The $90-something Roadmaster looked better to me. Just my 2 cents.

Seat is not welded and it is removable.
Bought a Medium size. Seat is definitely welded to the post.

I do want to buy a kickstand - so I know some people earlier in the thread said they were going to get one - did you find one that worked well?
I bought this one [amazon.com] and it fits fine.

I'm not an idiot. It's definitely welded on the small size. I do see the bolt, but there's no way to get to it with my wrench.

Don't think it matters but the bike was almost completely assembled for me when it arrived. All I had to do was put on the front tire and rotate the handle bars. Not sure if that means a Walmart person installed it wrong.

Regardless, I am not the one riding it. My 12 yr old's backside is nowhere near the same size as mine laugh out loud

I have worked on 10s of thousands of bikes over the years and, except for really cheap tiny kids bikes and high end one-piece BMX seats, have never ever seen a seat that couldn't be adjusted or changed and am really surprised that a company like Decathlon would do this.

I've looked online, but can't find a pic of this welded seat. Can someone post a picture of this unimaginable monstrosity?

Ok. Prepare your eyes for the unimaginable monstrosity...

I've learned that at least 50% of the comments on slickdeals are nonsense.

Seat from my ST100 that I just took out of the box.... (NOT welded)

Wrong.

I removed the stock seat mounted to the ST100 seat post and attached a random seat I had in the garage.

Here is what they say on their website -

Saddle: sit comfortably!
The saddle fixing (welded) of the ST100 prevents any movement of the saddle as you cycle. Because your comfort is our next priority after safety, we've added the exclusive Ergofit saddle that's wider and with a hammock shape. Easily adjust the height of your saddle with the Flex steel seat post, either 350 mm or 400 mm long (according to the bike size). Its reduced diameter of 27.2 mm provides your seat with natural flexibility, 30% more than a standard solution

The bottom half of the seat mount is welded to the post. The seat isn't welded to the post. The seat is easily replaceable as shown in the pics I posted of a random seat I had in my garage mounted to the st100's post.

I recently bought an older Specialized bike and an older Diamondback bike at a thrift store and both had a suspension seat posts with the same type of seat mounting system as this bike. The bottom halves of the seat mounts are permanently attached to the seat post. One has a fixed angle like this bike. The other is adjustable.

The large wrench tool provided is for releasing the seat - I moved the seat backward.

Thanks. On yours, it looks like you can change the seat and move it front to back, but can't adjust the angle. That's a little weird, but I was hoping to see a pic of the seat welded to the post. Oh well, maybe I'll go look for bigfoot instead...

I think when Decathlon talks about their " Flex steel seat post" they're referring to how the seat post mount is cantilevered out to where it attaches to the seat rails (check your seat or JB's pics above).

I can see how that cantilevered section could flex and absorb some bumps, but can't see how that design would hold up over time or hard riding.

I'd probably advise folks who plan to ride off-road to go ahead and pick up a new aluminum seat post that would be lighter, stronger and offer seat tilt plus fore/aft adjustability.

Actually, replacing the stock steel seat post is something anyone who is planning on keeping the bike should consider at some point anyway. Lots of options to be found for $20 or less.

U can move the stock seat forward or backward maybe an inch from its current position. I agree tilt would be nice. That's why I was surprised by that suspension seat post on either the specialized or diamondback bike I got the other day where it was at a fixed angle too.
