700 nits are impressive for a monitor of this size. It also replaces your interior lighting.

Why get this when you could get 2x 27" 2k monitors for hundreds less, with same or better specs, and put them side by side? Genuine question, I'm sure I'm not thinking of good use-case scenarios.

For another $100, get 240Hz on the G9.

For work use only (no gaming), this or CRG9?

I like mine because it's a cleaner look overall and takes up less space on the desk with just 1 base mount. (unless you buy a t type 2 in 1 mount). I don't like the split between 2 monitors personally. Less wires / cable management. I could see if you are a gamer and want super fast ms / refresh rate. But for my work I love my 49" ultrawide.

Thanks. Seems interesting. Looking to upgrade from a pair of older 1080p 27" monitors. Mix of remote office work and gaming and the integrated KVM is a big plus too. Looking forward to more commenters feedback.

1000rr curve versus 1800, this one is much less aggressive and is better for office use.

Gamers who play shooters (or really anything with a center reticle/crosshair) would like a word. How do you see the center crosshair accurately with two screen borders in the way? This is cured with a center third monitor, but now we're also talking about the cost of 3 monitors...

Or there's one 32:9 screen that takes care of this.

That said, I personally have been there done that and 32:9 is not worth it for gaming. Not many games support it, not much of anything really supports it. Most importantly, if you're 32:9 and don't have 1000R you're doing it *completely* wrong. Too much eye travel and neck twisting.

Samsung's customer service is absolutely horrid to boot. They almost succeeded in screwing me over on a G9. They turned a simple warranty repair into one phone call short of a serious legal battle. Never again. Once I reached one of the two service directors for the entire U.S. (East and West coast), they finally realized I wasn't asking for much (a repair on the mounting screw bracket, not even anything screen related. I even offered to pay for it myself) and they made things right by offering a complete replacement or refund. After all the headache, I took the refund and washed my hands of it. Positive note is that I have the contact info for one of the two big dogs if anyone needs it (I'm in OK and my region is West coast).

I agree with "ultrawide master race" but I'm now settled on a 21:9 34" and am quite happy. It's much cheaper and provides higher frames too. Win-win. It will at least hold me over until Corsair releases their Xeneon Flex Wink

tl;dr These can be positioned so you have one full screen window in the center flanked by two half size windows on either side

With a typical dual monitor setup you have to position it so you have one full screen in front of you and then two half screens on the same side. If you're like me that second monitor becomes pretty static. YMMV but my productivity doubled when I switched to ultrawide

Is the better than the Samsung Odyssey 49" CRG9? Should revise post as this is $625 with EPP/Government/First Responder discount.
