While The Prestige is in 4K on MoviesAnywhere and Vudu ... iTunes only offers The Prestige in HD.

Yeah. It's super weird. iTunes has the biggest collection of 4K movies, yet every now and then they only have HD. It used to be the same with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but I just checked again and they did finally upgrade that one.

If you only use iTunes, then it is highly likely it will be converted to 4K sometime in the future, and you will get a free 4K upgrade

The issue is if you prefer to use other services connected to MA. If you purchase The Prestige now, it will get added to MA as HD (not 4K) and that is how it will transfer to other MA providers. iTunes purchases that are upgraded to 4K later do not get updated in MA when upgraded.

Yeah. I know about the free upgrades and all that. I already bought this through Vudu in 4K a while back. It's just annoying that iTunes doesn't carry it yet. I prefer using Apple TV for every movie, since it has the highest bitrate.

I picked up Searching and although I haven't watched it yet, I'm really excited to see this well made thriller. It won a Sundance Film Festival award for first-time writer/director Aneesh Chaganty. 2020's Run (on Hulu only) was solid and the sequel Searching 2 comes out next year.
